Why Support Manny?

Folks, this is my first post on these boards though I have been a member for years. I was a huge, HUGE Manny Pacquiao fan, but fair is fair and honest is honest. This boxing, not pro wrestling. What has Manny Pacquiao done, what has he accomplished that makes him P4P? He beats the same people that Floyd beats one year after he has beaten them. Period.

Floyd beats Oscar. Manny fights Oscar.
Floyd beats Hatton. Manny beats Hatton.
Floyd beats Mosley. Manny beats Mosley.

Really?? How are Manny's selections when he isn't fighting one of Floyd's leftovers? Many beats Cotto after being decimated by Margarito and a narrow win over Shane (I thought Shane won). So what? He beats Margarito AFTER Margarito was destroyed by Shane. So what? And Joshua Clottey? Who the hell cares?

Shane's fight with Berto disappears and Floyd steps up and fights him. Huge win for Floyd. Manny fights a beaten Shane then agrees to a third fight with a JMM, a guy he beat twice and was DECIMATED by Floyd fighting at 145. Even if he wins, who cares???

Floyd meanwhile steps in against the kid who just beat the up and coming star of the division. And Floyd will whip him. And once again all eyes should look to Manny and say, "what have you really done"?

Personally, before he wound up face down on the mat, I would have loved to have seen Paul Williams fight Manny at 147. That would have been Manny making a statement. Instead, I guess we can get ready for Manny vs. Ortiz in May of 2012, after Floyd destroys Ortiz, and everyone will say how wonderful Manny is. And Floyd will say what he always says, "Big deal! I beat him last year!"

I used to be a huge Manny fan. But it is ironic, and wrong, that Floyd somehow developed a reputation as playing it safe, when Manny fights Floyd's victims, leftovers, and hand me downs with alarming regularity.

PS: The reason Floyd delays his fight with Manny is because of something he learned being a pro wrestling fan. Hold out as long as you can, make the people hate you, and there will be a limitless number of people who will pay to see you get beaten. The longer Floyd waits, while beating people, the more money he makes when the fight ultimately gets done.

ortiz is livin off one fight berto who wernt much cop any how i think williams bradley khan cotto would all beat ortiz quite easy to be honest least should get some strong shots in at the start and we will get to see floyd tested there but until we see him fight pac we will never know whos the best p4p

At some point, the tide will roll in to greet Floyd Mayweather and he WILL lose his first fight. It's just a matter of time, and timing. If Mayweather has slipped enough, Victor Ortiz might be in the right place at the right time to take advantage of that. Common sense and conventional wisdom says Mayweather wins a wide decision, but something tells me Floyd will be in the fight of his life against Ortiz.

Great fight, glad it was made, can't wait to see it.

If Mayweather is not fighting Manny Pacquiao, then this one is another comedy show. People would like to see the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight and the whole world is begging Mayweather to accept the challenge and make this event happen. How can this guy Floyd talk too much about himself and be afraid to fight Manny Pacquiao. We all know that he is throwing too many roadblocks to avoid Manny because he is afraid to lose, but a real fighter should always be there to take the challenge. How can you call yourself good if you do not have the balls to take a fight with the best out there. The whole world is praying to help Floyd overcome his fear of the Pacman. Very rare that you hear of a man walking away from a challenge to fight, maybe if it is a gun duel and somebody has to die of a bullet wound...but here, it is boxing and both fighters will be wearing padded gloves not guns. This guy Floyd Mayweather is just a ***** and the whole world will never understand why he calls himself a man if he does not have balls.

its becoming a trend of his... he comes out of his so called retirement after pac has signed for a fight to avoid being pressured to fight pac, i dont know why people cant see this...the best fight for either floyd or pac is each other....everything else is a waste of time and a mismatch...

That's odd. Cause I was watching the final installment of Fight Camp 360 and Roach already was speaking on Marquez before Manny took his shower. This empty rhetoric of "he comes out of retirement after Pac has signed for a fight" is sad. There was already smoke about an Ortiz vs Floyd fight before the Shane fight even went down. Stop exposing yourself as a hater and be glad we're actually getting a good fight.
