Pacquiao or Floyd were gonna have to give one of those contenders a shot eventually. Glad it happened. Ortiz deserves it.

Pac should have been the one to give Ortiz the shot. The same as when Mosley was coming off of the Margarito win. Pac is supposed to be the best but he is not fighitng the ones that are considered to be the best.

did you even see the berto/ortiz fight? ortiz did not look good at all... neither one of them did... i mean yea it was a good fight, only because they kept knocking each other's asses down, which made it exciting... Ortiz did NOT dominate... and he did NOT look good... do me a favor, go watch the fight for real... then come back and tell me ortiz looked good..

he was an ankle wiggle away from getting knocked out himself.. that is the truth. **** he couldn't even beat lamont! watch that fight too... he faded BADLY. that was only 6 months ago.

Not matter how you try to spin it. Victor Ortiz did his thing against Andre Berto. That what fights are supposed to be "Competitive". Ortiz/Mayweather is a solid fight on paper. Floyd may dominate him but atleast we know Ortiz is coming off of an impressive win over an undefeated fighter and is hungry to prove himself. Sure he quit against Maidana and had a draw with Peterson but he came back against Berto and looked good doing it. He's the #3 WW in the division. Good fight.

Cotto was done after Antonio Margarito according to many observers and didn't Cotto take a knee in the Margarito fight? Don't get me wrong because Cotto earned my respect but the Cotto who fought Manny at 145 did not look half as good as Ortiz did in his fight against Berto. Ortiz quit but got better and I think at the end that is what counts. Marg put a beating on Cotto, took a knee and hasn't been the same since.

And how many knees Ortiz took against Maidana???

He didn't look good against Berto, it was an exciting fight but Berto is trash, and so is Ortiz.He get dropped, he was fragile and very hittable as usual.
That dude fought a draw against Peterson.Enough said.

I kind of agree, but everyone was giving Ortiz crap when he lost to Maidana.
Only after the Berto fight which turned out to be a hell of an exciting match.
Only then were people giving him credit and he became a threat.

Looking at this Floyd vs Ortiz fight the scrap with Ortiz and Berto they were just throwing bombs, you can't do that against Floyd.

Floyd will be picking Ortiz apart imo.
