For those saying that Martinez is not a draw and that he can't sell, you have to take into consideration that he would sell a lot if he fights Pacquiao, Mayweather or Chavez based on promotional power.
The responsability of the promoters is to promote a fighter to the casual fans and what better way to promote Martinez as the 2nd P4P fighter in the world. If Arum can promote an even more obscure fighter like Clottey to the casual fans, then breaking the 1 million limit with Martinez is an easy job. The problem is that he is very well capable of beating all three and sadly, that's Martinez' only problem.

It does. If some casual fans know about Martinez which is something very likely, he can draw more people than Clottey and Mosley.

On the promotional point of view Martinez has a big edge on Pacquiao's, Chavez' and Mayweather's latests opponents. He is on the top pound for pound list and he can be marketed as the biggest fight in recent years. For example, it can be argued that Martinez being #2 and Pacquiao #1 it would be a fight to claim the spot. When was the last time #1 and #2 pound for pound candidates fought each other? There are plenty of ways to market Martinez but since he is good enough to beat all three it's not going to happen.

Well at least not against Pacquiao or Mayweather.

No offense as you made some valid points, but the problem with your logic is that Clottey is under Top Rank and Martinez is not.

As harsh as it may sound, it's not Arums job to hype up Martinez to the fans, but Dibella's. Now Arum was willing to do it, but only if Dibella agreed to a buy out. IMO that was fair because Dibella has done a **** job with Martinez. Dibella should have took the few million Arum offered to buy him out, and allowed Bob to make Cotto vs Martinez by doing all the promotional work.

That's what I'm saying, Martinez vs Pac or Martinez vs Mayweather would be huge because there are ways to market Martinez. Because of his P4P standings, he should be a big draw against the current stars. He's not the biggest draw by himself, but that never stopped Arum. He put Mosley,Clottey and Margarito infront of Pacquiao. Hell he even said Marquez wasn't a draw not too long ago, yet he's going to fight Pacquiao again and you can bet anything that the fight is going to outsell anything Pacquiao has done since ODLH only if it's promoted properly which is a for sure thing.

To be honest I think a 152-153 catchweight and Arum having full control over the PPV (by buying out DiBella) would get a Pacquiao vs Martinez fight done.

I really don't blame Arum for his strong arm tactics because guys like Shaw and DiBella sit on thier @ss and wait for HBO dates, while Arum puts up his own money and a ton of work building his fighters. Why would he even want to break bread with those lazy @ss promoters when he can snatch away a guy, do all the work and keep all the money?
