All this bitching about Arum. The guy has done more than his share for boxing. Promoters are greedy by nature. That's what they do. Blame the fighters, not the fucking promoters.

It's not just bad for fighter's legacies, as I'm sure they would prefer little risks and big rewards, but its' bad for the sport and us fans. Bob Arum is a cancer to boxing and has been for a long time, from a business point of view the man is money making genius but as a boxing fan once must feel disgusted with him. Even with his greed though, I wish he would have all the boxers under his umbrella similar to how Dana White has the UFC on lockdown, we would all be worshiping the greedy *** if that was the case.

Which one of his fighters are you talking about that hasnt taken any risk?

Chavez fighting Cotto is a risk, but whatever.

Also Cotto is the 3rd biggest draw in boxing and Chavez has a huge fan base so this fight makes the most sense.

Even if Chavez was GBP it would still make the most sense, from a business perspective, but the fact that Arum gets to keep all the money in house can you really blame him for making this fight?

Arum is a business man and people go into business to make money.

donaire fought vic and montiel, two huge risks at the time. in-between a lot of guys were ducking donaire.

pavlik took risks. he fought taylor, hopkins & martinez. Sure he fought rubio and someone else, but that's typical. Look at taylor fighting a couple 154 pound guys after hopkins.

with chavez though obviously he knows he'd get beat and he's milking him. he had a vision last year about chavez vs cotto and he's doing everything he can to make that happen. The bob is thinking about money - cotto vs chavez could probably be a decent PPV. martinez wouldn't be and chavez would get schooled.

It shouldn't be shocking arum doesn't want chavez to fight him. this is how promoters work. You, we, should be more upset if the WBC allows this fight to happen. If they don't strip chavez for not fighting martinez, that's what should be outrageous.

My god, this is not rocket science.

Why are you bringing up Pac opponents? It's irrelevant, Pac doesn't need a draw opposite him, he's a huge star already.

Martinez, while he can't draw, demands a lot of money(rightfully so). So he's expensive for HBO to buy one of his fights, especially against a guy like Chavez, who can draw, and because of that, will demand money, especially to fight Martinez. Zbik only cost 300k, and for Chavez to fight a guy like that he's not gonna demand as much money.

That's an expensive fight for HBO, too expensive. Which means the way to make it is to put it on PPV which puts 100% of the onus on Arum....if that was your money, would you want to put a future cash cow in with a guy that will definitely beat him, and not even make much money off of it because neither guy are proven commodities with the general public?

People *****, and *****, and *****, but don't care to realize why certain fights can happen and some can't. There are very good reasons why we can't just get every fight we want. It sucks, but it's the structure of the sport, it's not all on Bob Arum.

And I really don't feel bad for Martinez. If dude wants big fights then he should align himself with a powerful promoter (king arum or GBP)

Martinez fought nothing but fruit salesmen and tango dancers for years, and every one is wondering why he isn't a draw. Atleast Bradley is smart enough to realize he has to align himself with a better promoter, get marketed better so that he will have more than family members and close friends come see him fight. Sergio would be wise to do the same thing.
