No one. Not Ring, ESPN, or this site. In fact, special preview, in the new divisional ratings at BScene, Froch is going to #1. 5-1 against his ungodly last 6 overcomes the split result between he and Ward over Kessler. He beat AA worse than Ward and there's just no denying his quality of opp. No one is fighting better guys, and winning, than Froch since Pascal. In a divisional rating, that is what matters. Bute is at 3rd and a very scary threat to anyone coming off a grueling 6 Final.
1. Andre Ward.
2. Carl Froch.
3. Mikkel Kessler.
4. Lucian Bute.
5. Robert Stieglitz.
I have Froch above Kessler due to overall resume and combining skill. Kessler has the heads up battle and skill of his own, but the resume does more for me and for these types of rankings.
If someone wanted make a case for Bute being the better pound for pound fighter out of all the Super Middleweights, I might listen. However, in the division, his best win is against Librado Andrade and Edison Miranda. A guy that Mikkel Kessler handled without problem and a guy that Arthur Abraham beat twice.
And with Andrade, he clearly had his problems in the first fight. Granted, he manned up and did the deed. Still, that isn't the work of the best Super Middleweight division. Pound for pound? Sure. But, divisions are solely based on accomplishment and resume.
