Bute's #1 ranking is a practical joke.

    SMW top 5 rankings:

    1: Ward
    2: Kessler
    3: Froch
    4: Bute
    5: Stieglitz
Win, lose or draw I have Froch/Ward as #1 and #2 once the S6 is complete.

So that would make Bute 3rd at best. But then we are not sure if hes better than Abraham, Kessler or Direll? He is like the Berto of the SMW division.

How can anyone rank Bute until he fights an elite fighter?

calzaghe being the best super middle of all time is a practical joke. the guy was ranked 1 or 2 for ten years before fighting a highly ranked opponent. he put a car freshener on top of a giant mountain of shi-t and pretended it wasn't smelly.

He beat AA worse than Ward and there's just no denying his quality of opp. No one is fighting better guys, and winning, than Froch since Pascal. In a divisional rating, that is what matters. Bute is at 3rd and a very scary threat to anyone coming off a grueling 6 Final.
So despite Froch losing to Kessler you still rate him above the dane by virtue of the opposition he has been in with.

Basically that's ok by me. Froch is on an unprecedented run by todays standards.

However it's not very consistent based on your past rankings where you put Ward above Kessler after he beat him even though Ward had little else to brag about. I guess that could be excused, but arguably not after Kessler beat Froch. Had you used the same standards then as you do now, you would have ranked the viking warrior no.1.

Nonsense. That's looking at results only on paper and not in context. Froch-Kessler was narrow and could have gone either way in the midst of a six fight run of comp that is just outstanding. Ward kicked Kessler's ass bell to bell. And it's not like I rated Froch ahead of Kessler coming off Kessler's win over him. I didn't move Froch ahead of Kessler until Kessler pulled out injured from the Six AND Froch beat Abraham. Froch has now added two more quality wins after Kessler and has got five excellent wins and one close loss in recent vintage.

That's why he's going to #1 at 68. It's Froch or Martinez for best run in the sport right now.

              Bute is no 1.

Look at his stunning performance over Andrade ( ref cant count to 10 )
The performance over formidable Brian Magee proved beyond doubt Butes No 1 status.

Point taken about taking the story of the fight in contention and not just the result.

However you should remember that Ward's dominance (or 'owning' as you called it) was aided by some illegal stuff and you should also remember that you in your report from Kessler-Froch didn't say that the fight could have gone either way but rather "there could be no surprise when the scores came in 117-111, 116-112, and 115-113 for Kessler." In other words a close but clear win.
