You've got some points there. Cotto is a small welterweight. Everyone seems to forget that. Chavez is a large MW. I understand the hate on Chavez because of his upbringing etc. But he is a B caliber MW with a good body attack there are weight divisions for a reason. Cotto is an A caliber WW. Chavez could very well win this fight Cotto is clearly better but his size alone will allow him to absorb cottos shots I believe he wears Cotto down. Id rather see margs vs Chavez at 160 and cotto vs serg at 154.

Cotto has never looked good aginst extremely large guys who can press the action.

Chavez will be 185-190 pounds of pure Mexican muscle. Hed beat the shyt out of Cotto. I dont like this fight for him.

I agree that this will be an exteremly tough fight for Cotto. Since Cotto moved up tp 154 he fought Foreman and Mayorga; at this point in his career, I actually think Chavez may be a tougher fight than Mayorga based on his size and the improvements he's made since Roach took over his training.
Arum figures if Chavez beats Cotto, he'll be huge. and I wouldnt be shocked to see de la hoya v. Chavez jr. in 2012. de la hoya has already stated he was already considering a comeback a few months ago. After he gets out of rehab, he's going to start training and thinkin about coming back. couldnt you just see it now - de la hoya v. Chavez in 1 year at app. 156 lbs.
What I dont need to see is Cotto beat Chavez and then fight Pac again. Theres noreason to see Pac-Cotto II, and that fight would be just as pointless as Pac-Mosely.

I agree wit ronnie N, I would love to see Canelo v. Vanes. then the winner of that fight could take on the winner of chavez v. Cotto (F**K margarito, I could care less if i ever see that cheater again). If Chavez and Canelo won those fights, then u could match them up in a fight the entire country of mexico would lov 2 see (assumin my above post prediction of chavez-de la hoya doesnt happen)

MArtinez would kill Chavez jr. right now but Chavez jr. VS Cotto would be a competetive fight but Chavez would win based on his size and body work.

sorry, but I have chavez jr beating cotto.
cotto is at the end of his tether, chavez jr is arum & co's rising star - there's an obvious reason why this fight is getting made.

Arum's basically saying that when he cashes out his well constructed novelty act, the proceeds stay in house. Sounds fair to me. Martinez can go mess with real contenders.
