Comments Thread For: Roach: No Robbery, Pacquiao Beat Marquez Twice

Since we are just a Manny Pacquiao signature away from his third fight with Juan Manuel Marquez, it's a good time to quickly look back at the first two. In the first one in May 2004, Marquez got up from three first-round knockdowns to earn a draw, Marquez thus retaining his two featherweight belts. They fought again in March 2008 and Pacquiao won a split decision and took Marquez's super featherweight title.

Not a robbery but I thought Marquez won the second. Both fights were really competitive and could've gone either way, neither was a robbery. Waiting for *******s to call JMM piss drinker, cry baby etc.

Neither was a robbery. The first fight was a draw or Pacquiao win, and the second fight was one of the most back and forth fights I've ever seen, could have gone to either man with no complaint.

With all the robberies we see, I've never understood how Pacquiao-Marquez 2 can be called one.

I somewhat agree with Roach about the first fight but definitely not the second fight. In first fight Pacquiao got his as$ whooped most of the fight, but, because of the 3 knock downs in round 1 and some very close rounds later in the fight I gave him a 1 point edge - I don't argue a draw though.

The second fight I had Marquez by 1 point, I think the rounds were very clear in that fight and it should have gone to Marquez. But, with that said I also think that Marquez was knocked down twice in that fight. If you replay the fight you'll see Pacquiao attacks Marquez after that knock down and Marquez sat on the ropes, preventing him from siting on the floor - I suppose it was Bayless' decision to make.
If the second knock down was counted then I would have it a draw.
Anyway, I'm neither referee nor judge as much as Roach isn't.

What!! You mean to tell me the trainer of Manny Pacquiao thought his fighter won two close fights. Wow this is amazing! Never in the history of boxing has a trainer thought his guy won! Front page news right here.

not really ... it just judges how a prime WW Pacquiao can beat an over the hill bloated up Lightweight Marquez,

JMM is my favorite current boxer and I fully expect him to get stopped
