i hate this, especially since Martinez is willing to fight whoever. It just sucks that HBO took this stance with Martinez when they have/had other fighters *cough*berto*cough* fighting nobodies.. I guess there's a glimmer of hope since they rejected Paul Williams original comeback fight, against kirklands daddy i think it was...

True true...That was a robbery. But hurts more when you get your tittle taken from you outside of the ring and have two guys fighting for YOUR TITTLE that aren't deserving of it.

HBO will only do mismatches if Alvarez, JR, the black jr, or pacquiao are at the other end of the corner.

I don't agree with this, yeah he lost his title but most of the times the newly crowned champion is able to do a couple of fights before having to do a mandatory defence. In his case the WBC was extremely strict and striped Martinez way too fast.

Now that it has happened this way and that the regular WBC title was given to Zbik, if Chavez Jr gets the title he should also defend it against Martinez in his NEXT fight, not after 3 or 4 fights, because Martinez is the WBC emeritus champion. Now will that happen? I don't think so, they'll find a way to avoid Martinez and keep the belt. That's the real problem, not that he gets the championship, but that the rules always tend to be different to different fighters.

A voluntary defence against Williams? Williams vs Martinez III? I don't think so. Zbik was already the interim champion, so the unification wasn't actually that critical for Zbik.

Martinez won his tittle from pavlik he then faced williams in the rematch which was his first voluntary defence. He was then striped when he fought dzy.
And if chavez wins they should give him a voluntary defence then make him face his mandatory. But who knows if it will be martinez or rubio who won an eliminator againts lemiux.
