Accomplishments, defined in these terms, are essentially trivia, decorative touches to a career - often, they're as impressive as they sound, but just as often not. Opposition can make Accomplishments Greater.


So, to the people using the 'Accomplishments' argument, don't - quality of Opposition is the primary key factor in judging a prizefighter's CV.

Sweet Pea has the better resume, Hopkins has the better accomplishments. I can't really see how some one can say Sweet Pea by landslide, or Hopkins my a country mile, other than to look like a know it all historian and impress some one.

Whitaker beat a guy you could argue is top 20-25 (JCC) another guy you could argue is top 50-60 (Nelson). His other wins rival Hopkins' run at Middleweight. Beating Vasquez at 154, beating Mayweather coming up. McGirt at WW.

His close loss against Oscar is much more impressive than any of Hopkins' close losses (Taylor, Calzaghe) He beat the best two guys he ever faced and Hopkins didn't. That could end the argument right there...
