This is an easy one, Lennox Lewis.
Who has a better chin: Wlad or Lennox?

I hate questions like this. There are so many variables it's impossible to give an intelligent, scientific answer. Even the term "weak chin" itself is an inaccurate, slang term for someones ability to take a punch. The "chin" itself actually has little to do with it. Most judgments about "weak chins" are just speculation and averages. (guessing)
The unconscious state of being knocked out is caused by the "jelly like" brain tissue impacting the cranial walls. Getting hit on the chin is typically the optimum target area to cause such a brain/cranial impact. Depending on punch velocity, punch trajectory, cranial structure, brain tissue density, neck strength, neck length, and countless other variables. Therefore, there are many ways to force that impact and cause a knock out.
Now that I've said all that, Wlad Klitschko may have some physical attributes that make him more susceptible to being knocked out, but I don't think that can be judged just because he has been knocked out. Any and ALL people can be knocked out. Countless great champions and boxers have been knocked out. In fact, It's rare to find those that haven't been knocked out at some point in their career. It's the nature of the sport.
In Wlads case, I think there's a lot of misconception about the way he takes punches. He is a tall, lanky, awkward fighter with a long neck and when he gets hit, those variables give the appearance of Wlad being rocked, when in fact, he's just awkward. I'm not saying he's never hurt, but I think a lot of those situations when people think he's hurt after a punch is actually just the effect of his natural lankiness.
He's just awkward and not graceful.
The term "weak chin" is a general term used to describe someones ability to take a punch based on cranial structure, brain tissue density, chin length, overall head mass, neck strength, neck length, and endless other physical variables.Last edited by Torino; 09-26-2005, 01:20 PM.Comment

Originally posted by paul750Yes but with respect, there's a thing called common sense, and that would tell most people Lewis had the better chin surely, it's like power, no one knows excactly how hard a boxer punches, but most people have a good idea, for obvious reasons.
Power can be measured.Comment

With all due respect, this is a ridiculous question... Wlad seems to go down nearly every time he's hit. If this was Wlad or Herbie Hide it might (and even then only MIGHT) be a question. Lennox didn't have a great chin by any means, but it was never THAT bad.Comment
