Guys Mccall was trained by Steward for his KO win over Lewis, for some reason Steward started to train Lewis, including the rematch. Mccall was just mentally broken and felt betrayed that the man whip trained him to beat Lewis was across his corner training Lewis to beat Mccall, his feelings were hurt, especially after Lewis was landing, dude just gave up.
Just saw Lennox Lewis vs. Oliver McCall 2 the strangest thing in Boxing.

I agree with you on this one. LL was throwing bombs & getting free licks on Mccall who had his hands by his waist. He must've been on crack to have done that but then again no one cracks Mccalls chin. A shame he never fought Tyson.. he would've walked right through his bombs without no fear. hOLYFIELD vs Mccall would've been a classic.. both guys not afraid to throw leather & can withstand the heaviest of punches.. even now it'd be a good fight Or Mccall vs Tua or even the Klitschko's.. he'd take a vicious pounding from the brothers & wouldn't go anywhere.I won't speak about the whys and wherefores of the loss, though it seems likely that drug use and severe personal problems were to blame, but I will say that it was this fight that convinced me that McCall had probably the best chin of any fighter in history. He was literally walking around in a daze of his own making, taking flush shots from Lewis and reacting as if they were no more than a minor irritation in his in-ring breakdown. That, and he was never even remotely hurt during his entire career.
Not even Chuvalo has anything on this guy.Comment

He had a complete mental break down. He was emotionless and distant in there, its like you can hear him thinking "Do I really wanna do this anymore?" "Why am I here?" It was a very unique situation to say the least.Comment

Lol.. at best it's a tie in both departments. Mccall ain't that crazy to aCTUALLY get in the ring with Vitali as if ANYONE is ko'ing mCCALL it's DR. IRonfist. Vitali ALSO gave Lewis free shots at him... half blind so he withstood the same bombs & also Sanders landed his vaunted left with Vitali's hands by his waist & he withstood that as for Vks' power.... results speak for itself.. he's the heavyweight with the highest probability of getting a ko stopppage in the entire history of the division so thanks for playing JoeC.Comment

Oliver was talking to himself.. he didn't want to be in there & did try one last ditch effort to get a repeat of the first fight by winging it in the second rd. He actually won that rd. When he saw he couldn't repeat the feat he succumbed to the emotional breakdown. Dude wanted out of there as quickly as possible & Ko'ing Lewis to get OUT of the fight was one of the options. You could tell he wanted the fight over with no matter the means. This is clearly a guy being forced into the fight when not fit to fight & still having emotional wounds & some type of drug withdrawal. It's a travesty that they let the fight go on as much as they did as it was clear within the first 9 minutes of the fight Oliver was NOT there.. dude refused to go to his corner in between rds because he knew the corner would try to convince him to go through with the fight.Comment

He was taking shots and couldn't answer anything, he knew that Steward had trained Lewis well to beat him and felt betrayed. At the end of the round you can see him look at Steward in the corner and that's when it all really gets the better of him.Comment
