Lol arum does this once or twice a month.you guys have to stop worrying about it. . .Every few weeks they put an article up there to make it seem like chavez wants to fight cotto or chavez wants to fight martinez. . .i promise you it Wont happen. . .They do it so they can continue to justify matching him so lightly. . So youll watch him fight bums because you think he is gearing up for a big fight against a live opponent
. . .same with pacquiao sorry to say

Bleh 155 is lame, and I'd rather have it at 160 but I don't blame Cotto for asking for a catchweight. He really can't afford to lose this fight and the best way to insure that is to make the weight as low as possible. I also hate how the belt is on the line at 155, sure he'll probably become the champ but talk about doing it in weak fashion. When Sergio called out Cotto he said he would fight him at 155, for that I was fine because it was the champ stating he would defend at 155, but asking for 155 against the weakest champ in the division. It sucks but I really can't blame Cotto, he has done EVERYTHING the "right" way in his career just not real happy about this choice.

TO BE FAIR: This is plan B, they were wanting Cotto/Margarito II and nothing else, but with cheato's career basically over they need to do something. Cotto's had 2 tune-ups he needs a legit threat and Margarito on the shelf really stumped Arum I'm sure, they probably weren't counting on the toughest SOB in boxing to go blind.

Not a big fan of bull**** catchweights and this is no exception. But that's definately an advantage for Cotto.

well all cotto has to say is no....after all arum has said before that his fighter is the one to finally decide if they want to fight...if both agree to the fight,we can't blame one over the other,i hate catchweights too and 155 is about the worst it can be,any catchweight is

considering chavez jr was to fight cotto at 154 in december ('10) and didnt and has eaten his way from welterweight to middleweight this catchweight fight isnt as ridiculous as the ones participated in by the p4p kings

cotto is naturally 162-164 so it would make for a fair fight with diva jr who blows up in between fights all the way up to 200 lbs

I'm not talking about the catchweight being the issue. I'm sayin this shouldnt even be in the works because if JCCj wins he belongs in the ring with Mr. Martinez. Cotto shouldn't even be in a position to say no because JCCj should be focusing on Zbik and, if he wins, Martinez.

That's the same catch weight(155lbs) that Sergio Martinez said he was willing to go down to face Cotto..155lbs seems kind of low for Chavez jr, especially considering that in the past Chavez jr has had problems making 160lbs, he even got fined for $10,000 & suspended for 7 months for using an illegal(in the state of Nevada) diuretic(furosemide) to make weight(160lbs) against Troy Rowland in 2009(the fight was declared a NO-CONTEST)..Well it's NOT a sure thing yet, the article does say the fight COULD have a catch weight & that's probably what Cotto's camp has suggested..Gotta weight & see what Roach & Chavez jr gotta say about this..& anyway, Chavez jr hasn't even fought for the title yet!! Even thou he is a sure favorite, still gotta weight & see if he wins it..This is boxing & ANYTHING can happen!!

Need to get it through their thick skulls that divisions are diliniated by weight limits not weight minimums. That said Chavez has had trouble making weight in the past because he has been a fat lazy pig. If it's true that Roach has turned him into a work out beast then he should make 160 easy.

Chavez prefers Cotto at a catch weight over Martinez at 160 because 1- much more money to be made with Cotto, and 2-He knows Martinez would DESTROY him.

People are already talking about this fight, but I will tell you now Chavez won't get passed Zbik.
