Yes but stepping back on someone which is the current wave and the potential of several millions that got away while investing on a lost cause, me as an investor would be raising hell and ask the board how on earth did those millions of revenues got away and went to the competition when that revenue is supposed to be ours already!Comment

How HBO Lost Manny Pacquiao
u got it backwards.
arum dropped HBO, not the other way around.
it was just a one fight thing though. he could be back on HBO next fight.
lampley/merchant/steward >>>>>>>> gus johnson/tarver/bernstein
bernstein is ok, and tarver is fine for certain matchups *cough! cough!*, but gus johnson is horrible
arum just took better deals from showtime.
it's not like pac won't go back to hbo if they make the better deal.Comment

Other promoters have mentioned favoritism (most vocally Shaw).
HBO-Golden Boy alliance
The prevailing opinion throughout the boxing industry is that HBO significantly favors Golden Boy, which has an output deal with HBO guaranteeing it a certain number of dates through 2011. Greenburg doesn't deny the deal, but he says HBO doesn't show favoritism toward Golden Boy (even though that seems, at least from this perch, very hard to swallow).
"It's just not true," Greenburg insisted. "If you ask [Golden Boy CEO] Richard Schaefer, he feels as if he is punished because of that perception. We've done as many fights with Top Rank, Gary Shaw, Lou DiBella. The deal we have with Golden Boy does not impact our delivery to other promoters. We buy fights. Golden Boy gets no preferential treatment, I can tell you that point blank. We don't have to buy fights from them that we don't want. We can say, 'Pass, doesn't work for us.' That's how the deal is structured. We told them, 'You have to deliver Khan-Maidana or we're not interested in another Khan fight.'"
So will Greenburg look to renew the output deal when it expires next year?
"Anything we do will be done with Golden Boy. I don't want to do that in the press, but I don't regret the deal."

It was a no brainer from HBO. Pacquiao is the most entertaining boxer at the moment and they threw away the deal. Idiots.Comment
