It shows interest yes, but really, say 6 people per PPV were watching, that's about 8 million people, out of over 300 million. More people watch reruns of sitcoms than what is supposed to be a huge fight.
Thats a pretty ridiculous way of seeing it

It was better when it was on free tv and the best fighters needed to fight more than once a year., I'm fine with Showtime. And I did like Fight Camp 360, more characters interviewed. I mean, what else is there to know about the Pacman that 24/7 didn't cover ?
As for Shane, well, he had a great record, who would expect him to surrender so easily with such a record ? Nobody ! Not a single soul. And Pacman is the champ, he should be the one to be chased.
So that teaches us a lesson, to ask ourselves if Pacman's next opponent will have the will to fight on after getting hit by Pacman.
As for PPV, it's driven mostly by people who simply want to watch the Pacman, or Floyd, fight anybody. They expect these two to win anyway, these two are at that level. Boxing pundits who know their stuff are just a tiny minority in the PPV sales. Like probably 95% of those at the MGM Grand were just there to see the Pacman, the others being high-rollers and some Mosley fans, reporters, and those who follow boxing.
Boxing will never die ... as long as there are superstars, and there always is. Like tens of millions watch Pacman in his home country, little kids included, who know nothing about boxing, and adults who would not know who is Victor Ortiz or Bradley

Wake up boxing fans
all you who bought this BS mismatch should be ashamed of yourselves. If you're a diehard Pac or Mosley fan fine by me, but most everyone knew this was going to be a BS one sided bout.
"It's the promoters fault that they can't do a better job with the rest of the boxing world."
right but if the Promoters know they can get at least 1 Million buys with a mismatch, what's the drive for them (promoters) to try and make a competitive main event? Think about it
if **** sells, why pay more for gold?
Originally posted by PureBoxingCEO View Post1.3 PPV buys is damn good considering Mosley is way past his prime. Good numbers for our sport.
**aren't weak under cards a common theme on PPV's? (see RJJ-Calzaghe) but anyway if Arum knows he can throw an over matched opponent in with Pac, why bother dishing out more $$ for a better undercard.
Granted on Pac/Mosley the Arce fight arguably stole the show and was more exciting than the main event, simply pathetic.. it wasn't the fight with all the promotion and drive behind it

But you know what they say, a sucker is born every minute.
Originally posted by sunwizard View PostJust because it went over a milli doesnt mean its a good thing. Good for Bob Arum pockets...I dont know how it is good for boxing...especially since it will encourage Bob to keep up with the same old bs.
Originally posted by oj simpson View Posti cant believe people are even debating whether or not 1.2 mill plus ppvs is a success.
Originally posted by mic573 View PostEveryone complaining about the fight will buy and watch the next one. Everyone does this after a ppv whether it be Mayweather or Pacquiao the numbers will still keep racking up.

yeah the numbers are good, but not so much considering the crappy fight. Again all it does is encourage Arum to make a BS "big fight"

yeah I share those sentiments. Hurts my pride as a boxing fan when a **** fight can profit so much. All you guys paying $55, $64 or what ever got RIPPED off.
But you know what they say, a sucker is born every minute.
exactly my point in a nut shell. Over a Mill for a mismatch main event is good for Arum but in the long run probably scared a ton of fans away
of course it's a success financially, but it's disappointing that so many people can be tricked into blowing $64 on a mismatch fight. I've been following boxing seriously for the past six years and didn't go near Pac/Mosley
Don't speak for "everyone" I am routinely disappointed with "big" fight PPV mismatches (Pac vs Diaz, Clottey, Margarito, Mosley) and never bothered purchasing them.

Pacquiao won a twelve round decision over Mosley at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
