Richard Schaefer: Marquez vs Ortiz At 144

Sorry buddy, even Schaefer admitted that would be tough to get around.
From a recent Rafael article:
Even if Golden Boy can match Top Rank's fall offer to Marquez, it would certainly have a problem matching the terms of the rematch clause Top Rank offered. Even Schaefer admitted that.
"That is difficult, but not impossible," he said. "Let's assume that [Marquez] would beat Canelo, then I would have to offer him a fight against someone for $10 million. I would have to find that someone."Comment

I can't believe people are actually taking this seriously. There's no way in hell GBP or HBO would invest $5 mil alone on JMM for an Ortiz fight, absolutely none. If they did, it would the biggest blunder in a long line of them recently (see Khan-Bradley). Ortiz made $400K for the Berto fight which drew a few thousand people to the stands and a decent number for non PPV HBO, but he's going to generate enough money to guarantee a return on a $5 mil investment on JMM with PPV percentages and a $10 mil rematch clause?

what if they put Canelo on the undercard? That would be a pretty big mexican attraction (marquez, ortiz, canelo).I can't believe people are actually taking this seriously. Even if they break even that would be a win for them (to screw bob arum).
I don't know if it's possible, just sayin. They could in theory also come out of pocket and say, pay a difference of $1-$2 million out of their own funds.Comment

With Alvarez on the same card it would do quite well on PPV. If JMM was to win, JMM-Alavarez would be next. Ortiz would obvioulsy be making much less than JMM, but i'm sure he'd be willing to accept for the exposure.I can't believe people are actually taking this seriously.
