I don't think it's nuts. Seeing as "8 division" world champ Pacquaio has Martinez' belt at 154lbs. If Martinez can still make 154, I don't think it's crazy.

Fighting shot Margarito for the belt at 154 is fine, but fighting a shorter Martinez for the same belt is crazy??

As of right now I think he's the 2nd best fighter in the world behind Manny. I don't think there's anything he can do to over take Manny until Manny losses though.
Yeah, it is clearly about Williams. Think about how much has changed in a year for Paul. He went from being the consensus #3 or 4 P4P fighter and a guy nobody (but Martinez) wanted to fight. Now, he is nowhere to be found. Martinez didn't just beat Paul Williams, he essentially hit the restart button on Paul Williams career.

The guy said Martinez was the underdog in the majority of his 5 most recent fights: Williams 2x and Pavlik. That is 3/5 and constitutes a majority.

P4P is not a lifetime achievement status. If you're talking about all time great, then yea Pac easily. But P4P is about who is the best fighter right now.

Martinez has looked much more impressive in his recent fights, while fighting the MUCH tougher competition. I mean Martinez and Pacs recent fights arent even comparable. Why should Pac be rewarded for fightin guys like Clottey and Mosley while Martinez is fightin guys like Paul Williams and Kelly Pavlik

1st off,is pfp career based??But if U look at Martinez's last 5 fights to Pacman's,I don't see how think that Pacman's quality of opposition was better.I'd love an explanation for that.

Easy, look at who Martinez and Pac have beaten in the last year and a half, and theres your answer.

Pac fans like to talk about what he accomplished years ago, which is irrelevent when it comes to CURRENT P4P status

The Margarito fight was a experiment that should not count as a championship for Pac!!!!!

I don't know if U was drunk when U wrote this **** but Martinez was young & inexperienced & no where near the same fighter he is now when Margarito beat him.But here's a triangle theory to counter urs.How is Cotto greater than Martinez's last 5 opponents when the Punisher beat the man that destroyed Cotto??See,that makes nonsense.

But Clottey,Margarito & now 40 year old Mosley are no where near better than the Punisher,Pavlik & Dzinziruk, seriosly.

Pavlik was the lineal 160 champ & undefeated there. The Punisher was avoided in the span of 3 weight classes including 147 where the sports 2 best pfp fighters reside.Dzinziruk was undefeated & would smack up on Cotto right now at 154,so sober up then holla back homey.

This is just pure nonsense, Martinez beats to guys and all of the sudden he is on top or near Manny?? Hell naw son.

Just to add, Manny didnt look goo last night because Mosley ran like a b&tch and Pac was stiff legged in there.

Another clarification I think floyd beats Manny!!!!
Well... he beat two guys who were considered top of their division and live game at the time they were fought. It's not his fault he's getting ignored.

                      This thread still going on.....why?
P4p means all things being equal who would win. If Pac is 5ft11 and 160lb, most people think Pac would destroy Sergio in 2 rounds.

The fact that Pac has a better resume doesnt even need to be discussed here. Sergio certainly isnt p4p the best fighter in the world. If he moved down to Pacs best weight and beat Pac, then i guess that is another way he could put forward a case he was.
Other than that move up 4 weights and beat whoever is champ convincly like Pac has.
