to be fair to wilder (who was actually an olympian on pure talent alone,) the kid had less than 20 am fights if i remember correctly.

he turned pro to take care of his daughter

at this point in a career a pro boxer has almost ZERO say over his choice of opponents.
you can blame his management if you'd like

the guy has to learn how to box
do you really want to see him out there just swinging his right hand around with nothing else going for him?
you can spoil a fighter's career and life if you don't move him correctly

          he's 6'7"
he has 84 inches of reach, and he's a huge puncher and top tier athlete
he's also a family man and shows great character
given time, he can become a champion

if you step him up now, to say top ten competition, he'd probably lose

he has almost no experience. he's 25 years old
          22 rounds pro. 22 rounds!
he had less than 20 amateur fights and still managed to win a bronze medal at the olympics
he's only been boxing for six years

most professionals at the top have been boxing since they where kids

he fought 6 times in 2010
including guys who were 7-1 and 9-0-1
if he's fighting guys in the top 50 by the end of this year i will be pleased
he'll probably look to step up to showbox or an espn main event at some point this year
and it wont against somebody who is 6 and 6

Why is he fighting light heavyweight or super middleweight bums?

The last two opponents were light heavyweights on losing streaks as well.

Why not heavyweight bums? He's 6'7" with a reach of 84".

Not one American pays attention to this guy.

They literally track our American prospects in Britain.

checking his boxrec i see a guy who weighed 350, a guy who weighed 291, and a dude who was 398 lbs

i did triple check to make sure there was no error. that opponent had weighed as much as 450, and was coming off for straight kayo wins (in mississippi, against nobodies, obviously)

all three of those guys got knocked out
                two in the first round

                wilder's like a good sauce
                dude needs tons of time

not for nothing but why do you guys care if he is fighting bums or not? I mean it's not like anyone with any sense of knowledge is touting him as can't miss or ready for the big time.

he is horribly inexperienced and to be honest chinny so why not bring him along slower to ensure he learns his craft
