The knock donw in the first 30 seconds is why Vargas lost
of course he was going to have his moments in the fight and its not like Tito had never been knocked down. I always thought Tito was an even bigger beast after getting knocked down.

I confess... I work for the CIA. We are conducting a study on how the Mexican mind works when confronted with reality. The results are staggering. From denial to complete story-telling and utter disregard for sincerity or truth.

Disclaimer: Only 2 of our 10 test subjects were known to sniff glue. We knew they would be the most outlandish, but their fellow respondents were not as far behind as we would have liked to see. We have omitted their names to protect their privacy and the integrity of this study.

I thought what Tito did was pretty cheap. I also didn't like the way certain boxing publications at the time glorified it calling it a brilliant veteran move. Like it's perfectly ok and sportsmanlike to hit a guy low after he put you down on your ass.

Now could Vargas have finished off Tito had he not been hit low? I honestly don't know. Vargas was trying to go toe to toe with him and Tito usually beat guys that tried that style with him. I think Vargas was trying to outdo DLH in showing that Mexicans don't run. But it cost him.

Anyway, one thing that's not debatable in this fight was that afterwards Vargas was finished.

Wilfredo Gomez or Benitez? I reckon its Benitez, since Gomez flew to Mexico to attent Sanchez's funeral. A Mexican-hater would never do that.

It was because Vargas repeated the same mistake in the last round that he made in the first: he went at Trinidad swinging wide and you don't do that against a harder puncher. If you miss and he doesn't, thats it. And that's just what happened. Plus Tito has longer arms.

It appeared to me that Tito held something back and let it all out in the end, probably could have finished him sooner.
