Tito did hit Vargas with some serious low blows but that's not why he lost. He lost because he was rushed against a bigger, more experienced fighter in Tito.

Have to give Vargas credit though, he took some helatious shots and kept coming. I was also surprised to see Vargas out box Tito in the middle rounds rather easily.

Tito came on late and KO'd Vargas and it was a great fight. I think if they would have waited a year or so, we would have possibly seen a different outcome.

Well I always thought that both those fights were at least partially determined by deliberate low blows. Judah seemed to have Cotto's # initially until the 2 low blows, especially. And Tito made sure of things with his low blows that night. Not saying he wouldn't have won anyway. But maybe Vargas had a chance otherwise. He did drop Tito--and thus came more ball shots. Point is we can never know...

The sport has rules, and a 2nd one, if it is deliberate should be grounds for DQ. That is what DQ exists for. Even MMA does not allow such shots, and interestingly from what I have seen--it occurs less frequently than in boxing, even though they are in various positions that could make it more likely to occur.

Bu maybe the bottom line is money. Much more at stake in boxing. Thus some will go to any length to get a W. Or at least anything they can get away with.

Personally I detest fighters that do that and try to get away with it.
Someone here posted that at one of Pac's fights he refused his corner's advice to return the favor to his opponent. A fight can quickly degenerate into chaos if the ref does not quickly do the right thing. One of the reasons I could never be a fan of Hopkins as well.

Keep it clean. Best man should win, not the dirtiest.

Fak dat, we all know Judah is a bitx who folds completely under pressure and esp after 6 rounds. He becomes nonexistant. Cotto woulda got him with or without the low blows. And I didn't exactly see Judah HAVE Cotto anyway.

I don't judge a fighter in a specific fight by what happened in other fights. Fook that. It's not about what other fights have yielded or who on paper "should" win. It's about what happened. Cotto vs Zab and vs Clottey, and others, got away with a lot of stuff. He's not the dirtiest, but the sport has rules, and it makes no sense to talk about what might have been or should have been if the fouls hadn't occurred. That's what DQ exists for, to prevent the determination of fights by illegal acts in the ring.
