Dan Rafeal went crazy like a PR BoxingScene member about Cotto

Geoff (Queens, NY): Why do you think they keep matching Cotto up soft? Does Arum know something we don't?

SportsNation Dan Rafael: (2:33 PM ET ) Geoff, prepare to suffer my wrath. You are clueless. Soft? Besides Hatton and Mayweather -- fights not makeable at the moment and not because of Cotto -- he has fought more and better quality opponents at 140 than Mayweather, Hatton and Gatti put together. He fought former title holders Bailey and Corley and stopped them both. He knocked out current title holder Carlos Maussa. He stopped hot undefeated Kelson Pinto. He destroyed his amateur nemesis who was a gold medalist in the Olympics in Abdullaev. He also hammed out Sosa, who had gone the distance with Mayweather. And for good measure he stopped Cesar Bazan and Lovemore NDou, who got robbed against Mitchell. Now he's fighting a 28-0 guy with 26-0 KOs. You're banned for being a moron.

im not sure what to think

Cotto did not stop Lovemore N'Dou, but yeah I agree with a lot of this. People keep saying that he's facing soft opponents...but I think he's just facing a slew of solid opponents with different styles in order to prepare him for the big boys.

    N'Dou
    Maussa
    Abdullaev
    Bailey
    Corley
    Pinto
    Bazan

Those guys are all pretty solid fighters. We all know that Corley is on the next tier of 140 fighters...

      hmm

      WTf?

      1) Cotto outweighed Corley by 17 lbs and got ROCKED.

      2) Pinto had a 20-0 record before Cotto consisting strictly of unheard fighters.

      3) Cotto beat Sosa...so what? He outweighed the guy by 20 lbs.

      4) Cotto beat Abdy..good win.

      5) N-dou...good win (showed some ***** in Cotto's armor though).

      6) Bazan was old as my toenail grease.

      7) Maussa is a decent win, not great.

I'm not surprised by this post. Pretty textbook stuff...

Corley rocked Mayweather too, whats your point? As a boxing fan, you should know that he is a very hard test for any 140 fighter. Cotto did well to recover from that PERFECT PUNCH too.

A lot of PROSPECTS have unknowns on their record...thats why they are called PROSPECTS (they haven't beaten any big fighters yet). But Pinto did decision Mr. Augustus...who is a pretty good fighter himself.

Bazan is like 31 years old...sure he has some ring wear but he was still a live opponent. He's been in with top comp (JLC, Garena) and he beat Johnston way back in the day.

Maussa just knocked out Harris...its a better win than anyone else has had (outside of Hattons KT win).

Like I said...he's beating solid opponents. Nobody to scoff at, but solid fighters.

None of this will matter once Mayweather gets a hold of him.

I dont see how Maussa brings any credibility as being a "good" fight...That is a D level fight at best.

Cotto shouldnt be fighting Mayweather or Hatton until those 2 fight and get it on....Id really like to see Cotto face Sharmba or a possible fight with Tszyu and then move onto the winner of Mayweather vs Hatton (if that fight ever takes off)...It's a shame though, I was really looking forward to Branco vs Cotto that would have been a pretty competitive fight while it lasted.
