I would say average/above average based the little evidence we have. I mean one of the few times we have see him hit hard with a clean punch from a guy who we know can crack he gets buckled and he was KD technically by Zab even if it wasn't called.
Agree Or Disagree. Floyd Mayweather Has A Great Chin?

Most of those punches landed cleanly. It's all about how the punch land and where it is most effective on the body. You can be a soft puncher, but if you caught someone off guard, then the punch will take its effect because it's unexpected. Hatton and Marquez are perfect examples of how Manny caught them off guard. Marquez mainly put himself in those situation by leaning too carelessly forward when he threw his punches against Manny.Comment

If you think Mayweather hasn't shown world class punch resistance in his caeer when he's needed to, you don't have to look any further than the mirror to find a ******.
"Excellent" derives from the word "excel", which means to go beyond average; it is a relative term, meaning of higher or outstanding quality (slightly nuanced from its archaic use). Ofc there are better chins than Floyd's. Big revelation there. That doesn't mean his ability to absorb a punch isn't excellent.
It's not my fault you don't understand how language is used.Comment

You don't go a 15 year career in boxing without being hit more than twice. If you go through his body of work, he's walked through and shook off many good punches. Mosley's was just the most hurtful punch he took is all (and, as you say, Mosley's known as a guy who can really crack).
A guy doesn't have to have the chin of Margarito at 147 to be above average at taking a punch.
And Zab didn't knock Floyd down. He trod on his foot. That's what caused the glove touchdown and that's why it wasn't called a knockdown. Watch it.Comment

yea, those jabs landed really cleanly, and look at those bombs corrales landedMost of those punches landed cleanly. It's all about how the punch land and where it is most effective on the body. I think he has a good chin......based on the limited amount he has been touched there. It appears as though even someone with a rock solid chin will lose their punch resistance once they are tagged enough times, Williams is a great example of this. He once seemed impermeable but in his last few fights, he has not only been rocked but ko'd.I know he has a great defence, but you don't go through all his years of boxing without eating leather thourgh out your career.
In 90 amatuer fights he never touched the canvas once. And in 41 Pro fights he has never been put down by a PUINCH. The only reason he ever did touch down was becasue of pain in his hand.
I find that impressive. I know some may say this is due to his defence which is mostly true, but he has taken some punchers thought out his career.
Mayweather has been rocked only 3 or 4 times his entire career, so his punch resistance is largely untested. Surviving the Mosley punch told me that he has a pretty solid chin but he almost went down from it. I don't really know if he has a great chin but I'd say a pretty decent one.Comment

Except he wasn't. And that .gif is useless because it doesn't show the feet. If it did, you'd see what actually caused Floyd's glove to touch down and why it wasn't called a knockdown.
So pursuing that ****** 'Judah check-hook knocked Floyd down heehee, Judah has a better check-hook than Floyd heehee' nonsense for months only made you look foolish, not Floyd.

I thought it should have been called an official knockdown as well, but it was also more of an off balance shot rather than Floyd getting really chin checked. He didn't appear to be hurt or stunned like he was against Mosley.
Floyd has a very solid chin, but not great.Comment
