It was obviously a joke as it ended the chat and was then removed later, and neither ESPN or Dan have explained why.it was in a chat and obviously a joke.
there's a difference between his writing and tv commentary and his chats and twitter.
he does his best to be professional as a writer/commentator.
on his chats and twitter he makes jokes and stuff to be/try to be entertaining.Comment

don't know why he/they would remove it.
either way i have no problem with it.
i think people are overreacting.
it was a joke. maybe in bad taste but it was still a joke.
and i don't buy that "professionalism" talk.
as a writer he needs to show professionalism in his writings.
internet chats and twitter is different.
just compare your favorite nba/mlb/nfl writer's articles with their chats/twitter.
in articles they have to be serious , accurate and professional.
on chats/twitter they are less so. they will talk about rumors that they normally don't have the sources to write about , they make jokes , etc.Comment

It'd be like if Dan Rather tweeted on 9/11 "LOL 9/11 Dead People. ROFL ROFL."don't know why he/they would remove it.
either way i have no problem with it.

AS far as it being a joke: When a chat participant replied, "That wasn't a very nice thing to say" about Briggs, Rafael replied, don't know why he/they would remove it.

'It wasn't meant to be"
and he promptly ended the chat. That remark was also removed.
So I don't know that it was totally a joke -- he is pissed at Briggs.Comment

he's made that "it wasn't meant to be" comment a lot too.
this isn't the 1st time rafael made fun of someone or made unprofessional comments towards a fighter.
he calls haye "the ducker" for example.
nothing new.Comment

I like some of his writing but he irks the hell out of me at times.
