The bias is far too late. About 10 years too late.

Any bias towards that heap of **** and his stable of overrated, overprotected bums is long overdue.

It was only a matter of time since you can't match up your fighters against bums forever and its only a matter of time till your marketing strategy gets exposed by reality.

    Williams=Overrated ineffectual bum.

Berto=see above, but add coward to the adjectives.

Haymon=Mariah Carey promting neophyte who only gets his way at hbo cuz' Kerry Davis is also a former R&b exec that knows **** about boxing but knows everything about nepotism.

It's more us as fans we expect more of the fighters. Like you said for the most part having haymon in your corner basically means the maximum pay for the minimum risk. I just can't be behind these guys getting overpaid just cause of his connections. Not cause of their drawing capacity live or in ratings. And that doesn't apply for all his fighters but alotta them. That's why I have a mini celebration when they lose as well. So its just hard for me to think of many positive things he brings to the sport. But I also I recognize it's really no better then many of the things gbp or tr do.

Actually i come to realize promoters just like fighters themselves are as good as their last fight. Right now were riding a wave of positive feelings for gbp cause they put on a good ppv. We're also riding a wave a arum hate cause of what's going on with PAC. Seems to have ebbs and flows just like in a fight. Sorry if I offended and keep up the good work
No offense taken...man, when you have a daily inbox full of Pacquiao fans wishing you dead and calling you gay , you learn to roll with criticism, as long as it's honest and fair...

I have no problem with journalists criticizing Haymon...although the real culprit is HBO...Haymon is just doing his job as a manager and the fighters are doing what they think is best for their careers...But, fine, attack Haymon for using his influence...but why does that trickle down to the fighters?

The media should analyze the fighter apart from his business dealings...The equivalent would be if the baseball press painted A-Rod to be a lazy, bumbling fool just because his agent was Scott Boras...

Guys like Tarver, Forrest, and Williams never got the credit they deserved...at least not compared to fighters with comparable resumes...

Really, putting all prejudice aside, was Berto ever going to get any positive pres from these guys? He fought Collazo and Quintana, but the wins were discounted...Mayweather and Pacquiao never seriously considered him...the remaining options were either to fight high-end jr. welters or the sad remainder of a once great welterweight division...either way, he was going to catch flack...

I'm not a Berto fan, but it's not the media's job to paint fighters into a corner.

The media can hate Haymon and still be fair, but they just choose not to.

HBO put their footdown to Haymon finally.

I think there is more of a bias against HBO than Haymon because the media likes to nitpick everything they do compared to Haymon getting flack for what he actually does like giving Berto big paydays (which goes under HBO, but I'm talking more about their schedule flack).

If I remember correctly, Martinez's manager stated that he wanted Sergio to get "one or two" more fights BEFORE he fought Williams again. I remember an article on here stating that.

If anyone deserved a fight with Pavlik, it was Williams. I never quite figured out how Martinez lost to Williams but got a shot at the 160 lb title. It seems like Williams somehow winds up being the oddman out when mega-fights are made.(but thats another thread/argument).

"The hypetrain" that was created for Williams was his calling card early in his career. Ironically, Kelly Pavlik backing out of his fight with Williams 4 times, Margarito not taking the rematch, Martinez fighting PAvlik instead of an immediate Williams rematch, Kermit Cintron doing fire-drill stop/drop/roll techniques out of the ring give this "hypetrain" steam. At one point, you really have to sit back and think that maybe its not all hype. The proof is there, he really does have a hard time getting the big fights.

Honestly, the amount of vitriol Williams receives is unwarranted. The complaints of Williams' "most feared/avoided" moniker is proof that he has been marketed INCREDIBLY well. No one outside of the boxing super enthusiasts heard of Sergio Martinez. One ko and now he is king ding-a-ling of 160lbs; enjoying and riding, to an extent, the same media hype train that Williams himself was on. Its to the point where GROWN ASS MEN are calling Sergio "sexy" (Ive seen it on this board. its weird as ****). How some people **** on Williams but dont see that Martinez is on that same groove is unfathomable to me.

How could someone REALLY hate Williams tho? He is willing to fight any and everyone, he is an exciting fighter and he doesnt run. IF anything, he should be praised for being willing in an age where boxers handpick their opponents and dont fight the best opposition. If they think he was overrated because of his former rank in the p4p, then ok, Ill give them that argument. I didnt think he was a top 3 fighter either. But some peeps on here said that Williams wasnt even a top 40 contender anymore. He's a bum. He needed to retire. I couldnt believe how soooo many people turn-coated on Williams like that.

Its kinda hard to say that Williams hasnt been victimized, to an extent..
