**** this *****. What he did to his wife and both families can never be forgiven, what is worse is he took the ***** way out instead of being a MAN and facing the music.

If anyone who deserves a tribute is his wife.....

If this is for a good cause, I'm all for it. It's easy for you all to say he doesn't deserve it from the outside looking in, that's just as disgusting. The program is helping to prevent incidents like Valero's and are using him as an example of what not to do in a positive way.

What's even more disgusting is the double-standard people on this boards have between Valero and Monzon...

What he subjected his wife to defies words. What is there to celebrate? Idi Amin was a decent heavyweight...

Not just Monzon either, there are a number of murderers/rapists in the HOF.

The HOF makes no distinction between lawful/unlawful.

They decide based on what happens inside the ring only.

If Valero qualified, and he obviously didn't, but if he did..... he would be inducted as well. Believe it.

Also, as an earlier poster pointed out, a lot of good could come from this commemoration.

But I am in no way discrediting the many good people that have commented in this thread and spoken from their heart. Nobody is right or wrong here, this one is entirely subjective. There is still a lot of hurt, and there is definitely still a lot of anger, always will be most likely.

I am in no way defending Valero, I liked him, but was not a huge fan.

What he did was unbelievable, unthinkable, that was such a terribly sad tragedy.

Sure, I am thinking of him, and sure I am thinking of his wife and her family, but most of all, I am thinking about his kids man, they lost their whole world in one day.

This is a real tough one, on the one hand - a personal one - the commemoration is completely undeserved, but on the other hand - a social one - if highlighting this tragedy can somehow benefit his kids, or benefit organisations that can make a social impact, then I am all for it.

*** Valero, I don't think very highly of him at all, but I can't help wondering if his kids feel the same way? That is the scariest thought of all to me.

What a fkn tragedy, and what a very sad day in the life of our sport.

I can't spend anymore time thinking about this, but maybe we could go easy on each other today and think about the kid's?

Strictly speaking about his boxing alone, he's incredibly overrated by some of the people on this forum - some people are actually so delusional that they think Valero would've ran through the 140 division if he was still alive.

You can honor him as a boxer but I really hope they don't have testimonies about him being a great guy etc because that's just a big slap in the face to the victim and her family and friends. And to the people who say don't judge? Tell that to the victim's family.

what? the glorification of a murderer? only way anything good can come from this is if hugo chavez is blamed for brainwashing valero and introducing him to drugs.
