If they want to honor him, you're nobody to take issue with that.

imo, it says allot about a person on who they defend

inspiration to his community, you say, all others will remember (and judge him for) is his actions prior to taking his own life

I agree that a tribute to The Valeros, as a couple, would be nice.

A great thing about being a public figure is, whatever you do wrong in your personal life, you still have the power to impact in a positive way on the lives of people you don't even know.

In that way, Edwin's failings don't define him in my eyes. They are sad things that happened. I can't fully understand his mental disintegration, but it's clear that one took place and that he was battling devils.

But if things Valero did only changed a handful of kids' lives for the better, he still deserves this public tribute.

Oh, wow. Judgements about the moral fibre of people you don't know on a messageboard, based entirely on their having a less hysterical perspective on a human situation than you. You're great at this.

To the second part, you're obviously unaware of how Valero was looked upon in his country. He's a national hero and will remain one. You may think that's odd, but you're probably small-minded and unable to see beyond the mores of your own narrow culture and appreciate the bigger picture. A judgement in return for the one you made of me.

I know posters here will probably tell me **** off but Valero was obviously suffering from a physcological problems and for anyone of the posters here who have'nt suffered from a mental problem which im sure the majority have'nt its really hard to say anything against him other then the authorities should have actually sent him on a proper drugs and drink rehabilitaion course (not one where he can just check himself out of after 48 hours) and had him mentally checked out and cleared unfortunately that never happened and now Edwin his dead along with his wife.It would be nice if it was also dedicated to his wife but that wont happen

To me Valero will always be a tale of what could have been. A fighter who in the ring had limitless potential to be something great. But outside the ring a guy who just couldn't beat the demons that he had.

He's right up there with Tony Ayala Jr. and Ike Ibeabuchi. Two other guys with great potential but for some reason just could not avoid commiting crime if their lives depended on it.

some people will always be quick to judge and condemn others. ive learned at a young age you can never judge, nor understand somebody until (pardon the "to kill a mockingbird quote") you "get in their skin and walk around in it". forgiveness is what makes us human broseph's - don't forget that. i know it's hard to get over what he did, but don't sit here and cast stones upon the man and his hometown.
