Zbikowski had his first amateur fight was when he was 9 years old and compiled a 75-15 amateur record.

Boxing, like life, isn't always fair.

I'm surprised to read that, because he doesn't appear to have very good boxing skills.

Maybe he knew he wasn't going to be very good, and that's why he decided on football over boxing.

One thing that I've found in boxing is that, boxing alone doesn't draw in the attention of the mainstream public. Tommy Z has been a very good vehicle for drawing attention to Top Rank's events - even if it's due to the novelty of it.

Tommy Z can fight a little, although the natural tendency is to root against him and cast him as an outsider.

The truth is though, an exciting, talented prospect with a great amateur background without any back story won't move the crowd nearly as much.

A 75-15 amateur record in Chicago where you can't pick and choose your opponents isn't bad at all.

I think Zbikowski can fight. He's doing the right thing by staying active and in the gym.

he's fighting like once a month... mad props

and by staying active its only going to help him if/when the NFL starts up again... plus he's pocketing some coin and learning a lot from Steward

            win/win

I understand why, but it seems an injustice because some talented prospects who have dedicated their lives to the sport of boxing since their early teens deserve it more.
To put it in wrestling terms, that's like saying the skilled wrestler Dean Malenko should have gotten the push instead of Chris Jericho, whose best skills were on the mic.

Boxing is show business, and if some prospect has talent but isn't doing anything special to get the public to take note, then that is his own issue.

You may be signed to a promoter, but you have to be your own promoter.
