I wonder if Iceman sparred with D.M.

Pernell Whitaker didn't have reflexes on Jones level? Are you ****ing kidding me? Have you ever seen that mother****er feint the **** out of his opponents? Why again do you think he is the best defensive fighter ever (arguably of course)?

Because of his damned reflexes. That mother****er had Spidersense.

Yeah and just because Dariusz did not fight in style which took full advantage of his reflexes like Jones and Whitker and others mentioned does not diminish the fact that his reflexes were extremely good.

Herol Graham has the best defence I've seen and Charley Burley is the best defensive boxer I've seen. But yeah Whitaker is right there behind them, best fighter of the 90's.

I think Felix Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya were both better fighters than Whitaker. They both beat him. IN the 90's. Talking about Welterweights and the like.

Because Sweet was a ****ing track star. Thats why.

The guy could strafe faster than anyone, and he gets my vote for the best defensive fighter.

You remember when everyone was arguing about that subject?

I said Wright was the best defensive fighter currently for his ability to catch punches. Everyone else said Floyd because of his "Fleet Footedness".

This topic is too damn convoluted. LOL!

Everybody has their own opinions on who the true defensive master was.

In fact, I think I'll make a nice little thread about it just to gather some (new) perspective.

You do that. That should make a nice addition to this forum.

James Toney is the best defensive fighter hands down. Went from 160 to heavyweight. Still counterpunches the **** out of everybody. STill has yet to have been seriously staggered in the ring. And thats all because of defense rather than overwhelming offence obviously but his punch is solid even at heavyweight.

Whittaker was pumped with coke by the time DLH got to him and Pernell STILL out classed DLH...many people have said it was robbery.

P4P he was one of the slickest guys who ever laced a pair of gloves. he stayed in the pocket and bob and weaved though many punches that would have hit a lot of speedsters today...and he did it with ease.
