That says they reached an agreement, this is before contracts were signed. I'm looking for a link that says that they signed the contract for the catchweight.

That's hypocrisy, no matter how the people showing themselves to be hypocrites try and spin it.
That is hypocrisy, can't deny that. Either you give full credit to Ortiz and Pac, or you bash both of them, I happen to think both fighters pulled off great wins.

I didn't see any threads, or any news that mentioned Berto-Ortiz was a catchweight fight until now.

Not that I care either way, but the hypocrisy is hilarious.

Thank U,I didn't comment on how I felt about the 2 situations.I simply pointed out that while they are similar, they're not the same.Team Pacman chose Cotto, they also demanded a catchweight.Team Berto chose Ortiz, who inturn demanded a catchweight. Now don't add to what I was saying with,"are U saying Cotto didn't want the fight",because I never said that.Big payday, the champ chose to accept the fight & the catchweight.Whatever.But in Ortiz's case,he the challenger demanded a catchweight as part of accepting Berto's fight offer.

This was the whole point of my thread. I don't think the catchweight made a lick of difference in either fight. I was hoping we would all agree. I didn't think people would deny there was a catchweight or try to explain how the situations are so different. They're both trinket belts anyway. (Berto beat Miguel Rodriguez to earn it.)

People's sudden fury about catchweights seems entirely based on hating Pacquiao. If PW had KO'd Sergio the same way would anyone have remembered it was at a catchweight?

Ortiz won a great fight. Any boxing fan loved it. The fact that it was at a catchweight meant nothing.

That isn't the same as team Pacman asking to fight Cotto & at a catchweight.Team Pacman demanded Cotto & the catchweight.Berto's team went looking for Ortiz & Ortiz demanded the catchweight to fight.
It does not matter tho..Cotto fought Clottey and weighed in at 146lb,Berto comes in most of his fight at 145 or 146..I don't think it matter on the part of either fighter, imo the better fighters won in both fights..

My goodness,my only original point that while the ts was trying to compare the 2,though they were similar, they were not the same, that's it.I wasn't justifying anything while condemning another bro.

For example, while a mustang & a camaro are both pony cars, they are not the same car. That's not saying that a camaro is better because I like it more,ok??

at first, i thought the ts was trolling.

but upon further review, he actually has a good point.

So did Cotto, but you'll never hear the end of it from Pac-Haters.
