Not even close, you can't compare Tyson to these two, that Tyson loss was all over the media worldwide, this fight Saturday night was talked about on Republica Deportiva very briefly..

Was Juanma's loss that big upset? Too many hard fights catch up. We had seen the signs.

Tyson vs. Douglas was probably the biggest upset in boxing history.

              42-1 odds

Juanma looked pretty vulnerable in his last 3 fights, not counting the Luevano fight. Losing to Salido was a big upset, but Lopez wasn't the unstoppable force Tyson was when he lost.

Salido is a solid veteran fighter who can give anyone trouble.

Kirkland losing to Ishida was a bigger upset to me.

Morales beating Maidana does not surpass Tyson/Douglas as far as upsets go. An upset of that magnitude won't be surpassed in a long time. There is a lot of criteria for it to be considered a monumental upset as Tyson/Douglas:

The favorite has to be undefeated (aura of invincibility)
The favorite has to be considered an unbelievable force (power/speed/chin/stamina)
The favorite has to go into the fight considering the fight is a tune-up or "stay busy" fight
The favorite has to be champion
The favorite has to have multiple belts
The favorite has to have defended them

The opponent has to be given virtually no chance
The opponent has to show a history of having folded before or shown lack of heart
The opponent has to have been knocked out before
The opponent has to have been stopped before

THE RESULT ENDS UP BEING A KO or TKO victory for the underdog.

I can't think of many more, but Tyson was supposed to have won that fight. The only way there is a bigger upset is if the underdog doesn't even have a puncher's chance, is past the age of 40, and manages to knock out the favorite during the first 2 rounds or something to that extent. That will stand as one of the biggest upsets in sports history...period.

                    Not even close.

I expected Salido to give Juanma some problems.

I, along with pretty much 99% of the world didn't expect Douglas to make it out of Round 3.
