Dude hasn't fought in a year and you want him to go up to mw to fight Sergio.

I'd like to see Ortiz vs either Mayweather or Pacquiao. He already fought the best guy after May and Pac which was Berto. Of course, a Berto rematch is what should happen, you need to capitalize on a FOTY. Don't do like Marquez-Diaz where a rematch should have happened right away, instead it happened with both Marquez and Diaz coming off a loss so it took a lot of steam out off the hype of the rematch. If Ortiz or Berto lose their next fight, it will take steam out of a possible rematch. As we saw, no one was excited about Marquez-Diaz II and even the PPV numbers showed it.

Another option for Ortiz would be Shane Mosley if Mosley beats Pacquiao but he's a Top Rank fighter so I don't know how that fight would happen.

Easiest fights to make, promotional wise, is Mayweather and a Berto rematch.

Good he should want those fights, those are the quickest routes to the top. I don't know if he can win but who knows we may have not seen the best of Ortiz.

i dont think Ortiz should lose that belt just yet! haha! truthfully i think he can give those guys SOME problems...for like 6 rounds (ala Cotto)...then pac and may would dominate..Ortiz is young. He should start rebuilding HIS fanbase, the one he lost after Maidana... i think he should take two B fights... fight some known welterweights. kinda like what sergio martinez is doing now. I can see Ortiz fighting a Zaveck, then step up and take on Joshua Clottey (gave Cotto a run for his money) then step up to B+ and take on Mosley....THEN, IF he still comes outta those fights with the belt...he can look at Pac or Mayweather.

              just my opinion.

*I also wanna see Ortiz vs Brandon Rios! that fight could DEF sell! There's honest hate there. it'd even pit brother against brother in the trainers...SO many selling angles...DANG! make it happen!

Agree with your opinion 100%, He needs another 1 or 2 fights before he goes up against Mayweather IMO, If he cant win his next two fights then he doesnt deserve too get in the ring with either Pac or Floyd, From a fighting point of view its a no-no fight, From a business point of view him fighting Mayweather or Pac doesnt hurt him one bit, But from Pac or Mayweather's side it would be cherrypicking move if they fight Ortiz right now.
