Khan may be better off in the short term as a result of his switch to Primetime but a good business person assesses the larger picture.
The people 50k ppl who bought the PPV on primetime are obviously hardcore boxing and Khan fans.
Sky Sports would have allowed Khan to showcase his skills to a much larger audience and further build up his fan base. So by taking a few hundred thousand less now could mean a gain of millions in the future. Primetime will never have the exposure and audience that sky has so if he is unable to repair the bridges with Sky, he is a very foolish man imo.
Ricky Hatton v Floyd did something like 1.2m UK PPV buys. Thats a gross take of approx £18million. While I dont think Amir will ever be able to replicate Ricky in terms of generating revenue, I think if he keeps winning he could do PPV buys in the region of 250k buys with SKY.
As I said, if he doesnt repair the bridges with Sky, he will lose millions down the road.
