There are currently only two ways that a boxer can win The Ring's title: defeat the reigning champion; or win a box-off between the ****zine's number-one and number-two rated contenders (or, sometimes, number-one and number-three rated)
Except, according to The Ring rules, there needs to be a reason if it isn't #1 Vs #2...
Highly doubt it in this case. Floyd may or may not be yanked from the Ring ratings (that's not a given yet) but given he embarrassed Mosley, and Shane ain't won a fight in two years, it would have a credibility gap. Ring has, IMO avoided credibility problems with their belts since the Vitali Klitschko mistake.
just to keep the debate going, if pac fought ortiz, the winner still wouldn't be a true lineal champ.
Floyd-Pac would solve that as long as one doesn't lose in the meantime. There's plenty of blame to go around there. Less blame, more opening bell. In the meantime, I'll enjoy watching Pac be entertaining IN THE RING.
