Wow, that's some really deep insight.

IMO Berto wasn't prepared for that kind of a fight, he had the look of Jeff Lacy, James Toney & Mike Tyson...the version of those fighters with no legs, Berto had that same look, funny thing was he still had stamina and pop just no quickness or explosiveness. I agree with your position of backing him up and taking the confidence from Ortiz, just didn't seem like Berto was in good enough shape to be able to fight that fight effectively this time. Next time, could be a whole other story both guys had great moments in the fight. I'll pay for part 2 no question.

Berto never recovered from the 1st KD and Ortiz was way more determined/prepared last night.

I don't think he was ready for that type of fight either... that's why it turned out the way it did imo. Unless he's ready for that type of fight i think Ortiz would beat him again.

Cuz Berto didn't turn Ortiz to his right away from his power. He didn't get off the ropes and ate alot of power shots. He clinched too much which took away his energy and made it look like he was losing the rounds. He didn't set up the jab and threw wide punches. He had no footwork or head movement. He was very easy to time.

Basically he fought the worst fight possible and he would've 100% got KTFO had he not clinched every 5 seconds or had Ortiz hit him with uppercuts when he tried to clinch.

ortiz was the physically stronger man in there ... i dont think berto expected that. he didnt chose to fight backing up, he was forced.

Recovered or not recovered you still go forward. Mayweather vs Mosley is a good example as you saw him stumbling forward while he was still hurt. If you're tired or have not recovered you're going to be a lot worse off if you're backing on top of that rather than coming forward especially against a southpaw.

                  My video on this topic.

                  Always back southpaws up.
It's because Victor didn't allow him to Box. Berto is quicker, has more boxing skills. But Victor decided to be in close for a brawl at every oppurtunity and Berto didn't have it in him.

Victor is stronger at 147. We already knew he was a heavy puncher, but he's an even bigger puncher at 147.

Berto is actually lucky because he was holding virtually from round 7 on. The ref should have taken points for all that, not for the accidental hit to the back of the head. But Berto knew if he didn't hold everytime Victor came at him, he was going to get KTFO.

He was only 4 pounds heavier. He was not pushing Berto back so you can't say he was forced. Berto chose to back up... he didn't even try to press forward for most of the fight. It was a decision. Those guys were basically evenly matched in power and speed with Berto maybe being a bit faster so he had plenty enough arsenal to go forward. it was a strategic blunder by Berto and his team.

Ortiz just had a different kind of mentality to Berto, who was expecting to boss the fight from the beginning. Ortiz was prepared to walk through some punishment and go 12 rounds if necessary, and that's exactly what he did. A rematch I think could still be interesting if Ortiz becomes complacent from his win.

As far as ability and durability they're actually quite similar, it's mentality that made the difference here.
