      He has options.

He could possibly fight; Mike Jones, Kell Brook, the winner of Khan-Bradley, Maidanna rematch or maybe even a Berto rematch or he could even unify against one of the weaker champions.

I'm just thinking, would he turn down a Mayweather fight if the chance arose? I doubt it.

would be a tough fight for floyd. floyd only knows one way to fight southpaws.... go forward. he'd have to push forward against a strong heavy man in ortiz, but who knows.... if he did it to shane he might be able to do it with ortiz. but floyd never boxes southpaws. he always comes forward.... Chavez, Corely, Judah, Mitchell... pressed the attack against all of them.

I want him to fight Mike Jones...but Ortiz is probably going to fight Paulie Malignaggi next.

Jesus Chavez is not a southpaw. And he fought that fight pretty much in the pocket. Plus, he was at 130 at the time and was young and had little experience.

When he fights southpaws he isn't really that aggressive I mean, his output it pretty much the same and he still only really throws 3 punch combinations maximum. He just doesn't use the sholder roll because it's open to straight left hand's. He's really not that much more aggressive than he ever is Vs. Southpaws, IMO.

he was there to cheer on berto. him and berto are friends...
and to answer the thread question, mayweather outboxes him. just like peterson did in the later half of their fight, and how mayweather did to hatton, i think mayweather would do the same to ortiz. ortiz just got a great win tonight, but imo he or no one should be thinking about rushing him into fighting the top dog of the division. let him build some more momentum and get a winning streak rolling...

Now, before we all get carried away and start slating Floyd Mayweather. This thread to merely ask, Why not?

I am not suggesting this fight is going to happen, nor do I think it will. It most likely won't.

My queston is; Why not? Do we see this as a likely option?

Would it not be a perfect tuneup for Manny Pacqiauo? Considering Victor Ortiz is a strong, fast, southpaw? Which at 147, it seems he is a much more active fighter.

He is now a title holder at 147, coming off the best win of his career AND is under Golden Boy Promotions.

And on top of all that, Victor Ortiz is not a difficult fight for Floyd Mayweather and I doubt Floyd believes it will be either, which means I can only presume he won't mind fighting him for his comeback fight.

Throw the fact he was sat ringside for the fight also.

Again, I reiterate; Why not? I can't see a single roadblock for why this fight couldn't be made.

                Thoughts? Could this happen?
fight could happen, wifebeater would pick ortiz apart.

I prefer this fight as a tune up over wifebeater vs. spaddy or guerrero

i called this one as soon as i saw Floyd their ! i like it and because ortiz actually has a legitimate chance to beat him. but i like floyd and il be rooting for him. if ortiz were to win a new star is born. if floyd wins we can see how he handles a strong fast southpaw. if he can handle ortiz pacquiao might be reluctant and suprised because he said ortiz was stronger then him.

Besides Manny, Ortiz is the best fight at 147 for Floyd. ****, it may even be better than a Manny fight. On styles and size alone, I think Floyd would have a harder time against Ortiz than he would against Pacquiao.

Yep. It's that time of the week again. To our new King, Ortiz. Seriously, What did he do against Berto that convinced you he can beat Floyd?
