Fernando Vargas would leave Cotto in a bloody, broken mess. When I picture a fight with Cotto and Vargas,I'm constantly reminded of Antonio Margarito landing uppercuts at will on Cotto's chin.Tony was never blessed with the greatest of hand speed, and his pressure is pretty basic, yet he simply could not miss with that one punch.Vargas had tremendous footwork, and when he used pressure,he came in using angles. And Cotto has never faced an opponent with the punch variety of a prime Fernando Vargas
With Fernando,Cotto is dealing with a fighter with not only tremendous heart, but a fighter with considerable ring intelligence versatility. And I'm speaking of Vargas at his very best here.Problem is,many of the ******s commenting in Cotto's favour here haven't actually seen much of Vargas in his actual prime. They've seen the much slower, stationary and less durable version that was simply living off of the great potential that he has shown during the first couple of years of his professional career, and that's it.
Make no mistakes,Vargas,at his peak, was a better fighter than Cotto.More talented, more heart and greater adaptability
