Everyone should just compare Trinidad with Cotto,, there is no way that Cotto could have KO'd Vargas. Vargas is bigger, stronger, faster, has better punches.

If you can take Trinidad's punches for 12 rounds, and still hurt him and knock himdown and then get hit in the "huevos" with intentional low-blows and still come back strong... You're a badazz... If you can outbox Bazooka quartey and hurt him you're a badazz.

BTW, I might be the only Puerto Rican here so far that thinks Vargas hits too hard for Cotto. Remember that Vargas is a power puncher at 154, not 147...

Cotto's got better boxing, but Vargas has the bigger heart. I'm not sure who'd win now that I think about it. It's pressure that kills Cotto, not that he'd get knocked out clean in one shot. But I could see him wilting under pressure as someone else said. Vargas was a beast. He wasn't a cakewalk for anybody...

Hell, Vargas at a mere 22 years old went life and death with a PRIME, undefeated Tito Trinidad...that alone shows how tough the guy was. How the hell do you get knocked down twice in the first round (in the first minute!) by Tito and manage to come out of it and then be competitive?

In his prime, Vargas stops Cotto within 9 rounds. Leaves his bruised and battered. Vargas had it all boxing skill, power, stenght, heart. Only thing is he let machismo get in the way and got into brawl with tito. Imo he could have outboxed tito like his did for some part of the fight even after the knockdowns. Just bringin this up because my roomate says Cotto beats him by ko! I think p4p Vargas>Cotto Please vote!

Cotto of 2007 @ 147 is a very good fighter, but since this is at 154 which is a weightclass I believe Cotto has NO business in being in, he would get stopped.

Vargas has always been to brave for the chin he has. Cotto can box and jab and Vargas is not a pressure fighter. Close fight but don't see Vargas KOing Cotto
