Umm thats kinda the point of boxing. Timing and precision is the friend of the greatest fighters.

But if I had to pick the greatest offensive fighters, because I cant pick just one, I like watching Pryor, Pacqiao and Hearns. That being said Floyd aint bad........Aint bad at all. You cant throw out the part of his career when he was destroying guys haters and you cant disqualify a guy because he's not the punching bag that yall love.

not a 'textbook' fighter but visions of prime Roy flashed thru my mind when i read your criteria

the angles, the speed, variations of power in certain shots, putting your opponents in a defensive shell

One of my choices. He definitely was a phenom. I think His lack of technical skill is what caused his demise. I watched alot of Louis and SRR too and they certainly had these qualities.

the point of boxing is to beat your opponent...the earlier the better. how you win fights is the question. some fighters win fights with pure offense, some with good defense and some use a combination of both. i never said floyd's offense is bad but when the topic is about great offensive fighters floyd should not be in the discussion period.

Floyd no doubt is a very good offensive fighter when he needs to be, but were talking all time best here. come on now. he doesnt belong in that kind of a discussion.

I'm willing to bet if you asked any great fighter or their trainer if they would trade those punches in the face for a pull counter it would be unanimous.

Did you watch this? One of the best finishers ever. SRL had great D but I would have got no arguement for mentioning him huh?

cong**** on posting a highlight video. didnt change my mind since Ive seen all those fights of his in their entirety before.

hardly one of the greatest finishers ever when most of his meaningful stoppages came from a corner stoppage scenario. props to him for being very accurate, but give me a break.

not to mention Floyd rarely had flat KO punches, even at 130lbs where he was the most offensive.

I know I'd rather have a deadly left-hook over a pull-counter any day of the week. Far more versatile and it actually ends fights. And I'm pretty sure guys like Cotto, Tito, Frazier...etc. would agree.

I think Floyd's offense came from his defense. He's a counterpuncher. He's just not an offensive fighter. He waits for his opponents to make a mistake, then he strikes. Im talking strictly offense. Someone like Tyson fits the build. When he attacks, you have no choice but to cover up. He imposes his will on you. Its like ****, you dont want it to happen, but you gotta just sit there and take it. Haha!
