Why is it that Cotto and Margarito get called warriors?

He is not fighting bigger guys and has not been for years.

Why is what he was doing running? So moving backwards and landing the cleaner, more effective blows is running? Isn't that what Floyd does almost exclusively. Floyd's one of my favorite fighters, but this is hypocrisy at it's best. And Cotto won the 11th, and had a big second half of the 10th. In the 12th, neither fighter really did anything.

How about Clottey....he had a gash that required over 20 stitches from the 3rd round on and could've bowed out at any time but fought the full 12 rounds and found a way to win.

      This is a little ridiculous.

Look up warrior in a thesaurus and you'll see Mayweather's name...

        ...as an antonym.

TS doesnt watch the actual fights. He's more of a boxrec, 24/7 (hbo) kind of fan.

Floyd doesn't like to trade. He fights scared in every fight. He pot shots, clinches and gets on his bicycle every fight. He is the complete opposite of a warrior, hes a ****ing pu$$y
I bet the weight difference between Floyd and Castillo on fight night, was much bigger than Marquez and Floyd. So I don't get your point, however, Castillo is labelled a warrior, once again!

With regards to Floyd making Hatton jump up, didn't Floyd start off at 130 though? And isn't it easier to put on weight than lose it ..

He fights scared as you say but wins, not sure how that works out but ok hmmm

... I'm still waiting for the day Cotto wins a belt at middleweight, and Margarito wins a belt at super middleweight.

Knowing how to get your AZZ beat makes you a "warrior". No one was trigger happy with labeling marg a warrior before he found a way to take a bad beating from manny. antonio is such a warrior that he wasn't even sure if he could beat an old underdog, so he wanted to load his wraps.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious!

Margarito's a warrior for taking Mosley's punches and getting knocked out.

Mayweather's not a warrior for taking Mosley's punches and beating him up.

From 130 - 140 Floyd was more than capable to battle it out, and dish out as much as he was given. It's also when the majority state he was throwing combinations, and the more exciting fighter.

However, beyond that has become more defensive which I can understand, due to the fact it's more difficult to take a punch. Now I'm asking, how come Margarito and Cotto, are called warriors for taking on opponents equal in size? Yet, Floyd is not, when he's taking on opponents bigger than him. Isn't it slightly biased.
No, it's not. Even when Floyd was more willing to engage, he relied largely on his physical attributes and skill to inflict damage on his opponents whilst avoiding it himself. When was the last time you saw Floyd walk through two shots to deliver one of his own? The answer is never.

The term warrior has a very specific meaning in a boxing sense. It's generally applied to somebody who's willing to "go to war" in the ring. It's not a catch-all phrase for guys who move up in weight, fight bigger guys, etc. It's reserved for those who show a willingness to stand there and trade. Floyd is a sublimely skilled boxer, not a warrior.
