They do not need their styles altered much at all. With Kirkland, what he really needs is to slow down on the busy fight schedule and simply train harder like Wolfe trained him. He has always had a shaky chin early, but with better conditioning, he very well could have survived that first round much better and went to work the next round.

With Lemieux, part of his adjustment may have already taken place Friday night. He now knows that he cannot knock everyone out. He also knows that he needs to be more relaxed in the ring. Now it just comes down to implementing it. I think what got to david was his first time in the big spotlight. The pressure may have gotten to him. That is because he seemed edgy even in his ring walk, when he normally appears relaxed. All he did was throw bombs, when he usually mixes his punches up with soft to hard.

If Kirkland gets Ariza and Roach, he becomes unified world champ within a year and half

Excellent post. Didn't see the Kirkland fight, but Lemieux just seemed to believe the hype he was hearing about him. He really thought he would knock Rubio out in 1-2 rounds, and when it didn't happen, he didn't know what to do. It's not the first time that happens to a puncher, and it's not the last either. He learned what he could and what he couldn't do in a ring.
