I worked with Joel Julio and he hit's like a freight train. Maybe Julio's power went down as he's gone up in weight but he can punch.

As far as Kirkland, I think sometimes you get caught with the perfect shot and he did. That left hand was right on the money and he never recovered from it.

Even a guy who isn't a big puncher like Ishida can still hurt you if he lands clean. Kirkland never saw the punch and that's why he was so hurt. After that, he was so easy to hit and couldn't do anything to defend himself, good stoppage by Cortez.

Most people didn't know who he was before the fight but all boxing fans definently know his name now. Should get a good fight or 2 out of this. Good on him.

Hitting like a freight train days are over for Julio. He has zeros KO's in his last 5 fights. And Ishida's speed didn't help Kirkland's lack of chin. Ishida hits harder than given credit for. One knowckdown can be a fluke but not 3 and to be wobbled bad between those knockdowns.

Doesn't matter, I bet you that Julio still hits harder than Ishida at this stage. That was my whole point.

So I think it was more of a perfect shot than anything else, anyman can hurt another man if the right shot is landed.

you guys need tpay attention more to KOs. the reason Kirkland was hurt in the first place is because Kirkland was moving forward recklessly and Ishida simply had to stuff out his left hand...Kirkland ran right into it, and the damage came mostly from his own momentum.

Its not unlike Hatton getting rocked and nearly stopped by the light punching Collazo. You dont need your weight behind the punch to do damage if the other guy is throwing their entire weight right into your fist.

Kirkland went into the fight wanting to look cool instead of fighting smart. thats why he started recklessly attacking again even after getting dropped, and just ran into more straight punches.

Joel Julio doesn't hit any harder. ZERO KO's in his last 5 fights. And speed increases natural power, something Julio has NOT had as of late and Ishida HAS. Kirkland is the perfect example of cause and effect.

Steak - you think we don't know about Kirklands wreckless style? Maybe someone who hasn't see him fight before so your statement is an assumption. I have seen him 6 times and wreckless is exactly what he does every time. See the Conyers fight.

Kirkland ALWAYS runs into punches...the difference is this time he was nailed often. Conyers knocked him down too. Kirkland is arrogant as hell and shows NO respect, no defense for any guy he faces. He has always been this way. I wrote a year ago what everyone could see..he was an accident waiting to happen.
