but other than that, yes, cortez needs to go, i've been saying it for years, he's no good, past his prime and a competency level suited for being a world class referee.......



cortez's "i'm fair but firm" is bullcrap, it has taken him out of being a professional and more into trying to be a celebrity. now if and when he makes a bad call, he's forced, because of his trying get fame schtick being fair, he now has to make another bad call to justify or right his previous wrong, if you watch his body of work, you'll see it happen a multitude of times in his fights.

im not really doing my argument any justice right now, but just look at his fights, one bad call after another, the guy is a hack, and ruining fighters careers............

my last straw with this guy was the soto-lorenzo fight.............


now i rip on everything he does, his right calls have been about 1% to his wrong calls in the last 10 years......

Hes a ****ty ref now theres no 2 ways about it. Tho it's hard to argue with he stoppage. But there was no 3 kd rule so he coulda let it go. And seeing that he held Kirkland down he probably shoulda at least let him get up and do the full 8 count etc.

yeah, i have no idea why joe smothered him like that. i don't think that was necessary, but then again, i don't think there is any thing necessary about joe cortez being a referee anymore......... he needs to go, either on his own, or by force...... because he's a cancer and a liability to boxers and their careers............

thats not necessarily true. there are different sanctioning body rules. im not sure whether or not it was in effect, but it was treated as so.........
