I see it as a win/win for Arum at this point, I think the worst thing he could do is bench him because Donaire will leave and Arum would miss out on what big $$ fights can be made.
Hew won't "bench" him, he'll treat him the same as always. He's building him up successfully and now, at the verge of big money success, Golden Balls just happens to "drop in" and try to steal him.

Golden Balls has done that a lot, always has, always will because Oscar is not really a businessman, he's a boxer and very few boxers have real "smarts". Schaefer is a banker with no boxing background, and doesn't really understand the boxing promotion business. That's why they are always getting themselves into legal trouble. That it's often with Top Rank is because Top Rank is the premier promoter, and have the best line-up.

And Oscar is jealous. His main declared ambition is NOT to improve boxing (he doesn't and hasn't) but to be a billionaire, that is what he wants to be. I've heard him say this at least 3 times on TV. He's even been asked about it by interviewers.

So he "cuts corners" and gets himself into trouble. The most recent being his Mayweather and family law case, his Moreno chase, and his Donaire fizzle.

Donaire's legal, fully enforceable contract with Top Rank runs until end of June 2013, and, unless there is a clause which allows Donaire to "buy himself out" at a figure to be agreed by the parties, or arbitrated (?) There's no way for, him to scrap it. He signed it, is making money with it, and is on the brink of making lots more, Soooo, now Oscar wants to steal him, and got caught.

What else is new about Golden Balls ?? oscar was a very good fighter but I don't admire either his business acumen nor ethics. His "ambush" of Manny P still sticks in my mind. Reminded me too much of how Don King does it.

Oscars acting like there's some sort of conspirocy going on, like the "truth" is hidden on some video tape somewhere and he's trying to dig it up.

Oscar, u just need to stop signing fighters without reading their contracts first, then u won't be in this situation, if they have a valid contract YOU CAN'T SIGN THEM. Not with a pen, not with a bag of money, not through a third party. That is the "truth" and it has here by "prevailed".
At first I was just going to write about the fact that you have brought out, about the repetitious " the truth will prevail" ....it leaped out at me too, and I think you're right in your conclusions. Then when I read further into the posts I saw much more to respond to and neglected yours.

I'm making up for that now.

What do you want from the guy?? He just announced that he should not have said what he did. To any stright thinking guy, that's an apology. It doesn't mean he was wrong in his description, but it gives a balanced, and acceptable explanation for his comments.

If Donaire wants to involve his wife's "hurt feelings" into his business all I can say is, that his business will suffer.....and by virtue of this, his wife will too. After all, they are living the high kind of live they were not born into, and they have a chance to hang on to it.......if they conduct themselves properly, and keep their signed contracts........

And the expression "to tart oneself up" is not an insulting nor pejorative expression, like Golden Balls is trying to make it and like the ignorant are believing. It is merely another way of saying "dressing in the height of style and fashion"- very much like one does when going out to an important function. It's originally a sort of slang expression of English origin, I think.

My late Auntie used to often use that very same expression on ME, when wanting to

know "where I was going, and with whom".......! Of course if Golden Balls-and the press- can manage to fan the flames sufficiently to make an unbearable relationship between Donaire and Top Rank, it is all to their benefit.

But not to Donaire's.....nor Rachel Donaire's.

Looks like Arum is siding with the Pacquiaos. Come to think if it, Rachel does dress like a tart. As far as the beef going on i'm tired of it, i wish someday they get back working together but as far who's got the best fighter, it's still Top Rank.

Remember what I wrote the other day about the Larry Merchant disclosure of Marvin Hagler's warning to his mother when she tried to persuade him to leave Top Rank and go with Don King. "......if you ever interfere with my business again, I'll stop supporting you....' And he stayed with Top Rank his WHOLE career from start to finish, and was very happy about it.

This is Marvellous Marvin we're talking about not some 10 cent here today gone tomorrow firecracker.
huh??? talking about sum1s wife isnt business. if arum was interested in doing business, that would not have happened. its not about hurt feelings. its about professionalism. its funny u say that but then u ignore how arum took the business out of it.

If I was Donaire I would never work with Arum again. You can't insult a man's wife period, and expect to have a working relationship. I don't care how much she deserves it that's his wife not Arum's. Let Nonito deal with her if he has a problem with her wardrobe.
