  • Most of the name fighters on Hopkins resume were from smaller weight divisions and moved up to fight him (Oscar, Trinidad, Winky, Calzaghe, etc.).

Most of the names on Pacquiao's resume are from bigger weight divisions, Pacquiao moved up to fight them.

    Pacquiao >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Hopkins

Its not as simple as that, Calzaghe wasn't smaller than Hopkins, Pac outweighed the 2 best fighters he faced, plus most fighters Hopkins has fought in recent times have an advantage in freshness (Hopkins declined on a physical level). Having said that I do think Pac is the greater fighter, just don't think it should be reduced down to arguments like these.

What 2 fighters are you referring to?

Marquez and Barrera, though it doesn't really effect those wins for me.

Are you talking about their fight night weights?

The thing is naturally bigger opponents can take you punches better and there is a good chance that their punches can hurt you. That is why I take stuff like that into account.

              • Hopkins has a better resume, sure there are rumors that he ducked the 2nd fight with Roy in 2002, and waited until he was sure that Roy was shot and came back to beat Roy.

However, no comparison, Margarito, and Joshua Clottey hold no weight on Pacquiaos resume, Margarito is a cheater, and no one knows how many fights this guy has actually cheated on.

                  Hopkins in his own words:
HOPKINS: People want to me to go up to 190 pounds to fight "superman" and be basically a sacrificial lamb but these same people will do their best to keep Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, and Ricardo Mayorga among a few, away from me. Why don't these people want those guys to fight me?

Case in point... I'm going to quote Larry Merchant, who's part of the system and he's nothing more than a puppet on a string, here's what he said... "Why are you calling out the little guys, I never heard of a middleweight calling out the little guys."

Dude was calling out Mosley and Mayorga

Yeah of course I take it into account too, but its a bit silly to just reduce an argument down to that, Hopkins win over Tito is far greater than his win over Jones because even though Tito is the smalled guy in that example, other factors are involved in ranking a win or a whole resume.
