Does Merchant like East Euro fighters?

Or is it just me?? He spoke very positively about Vitali in his fight with Lewis and is obviously a fan of Wlad too. I think I've heard him speak warmly about another EE fighter, possibly Adamek. Larry is ***ish, does anybody know if he might be an East Euro ***? Ashke****, in other words.

You can't call the average *** of today "an East European ***", Their grandfathers came from Eastern Europe, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Hungary, etc but that was over 100 years ago. Today they are Americans, Englishmen, Frenchmen etc. They are generally referred to as "Ashke****" which means "German", since most of the medieval ***ish communities, moved around in the tiny multitudinous German States, depending on the degree of persecution in each. The big influx at the end of the 1890's and early 20th century came from Russia, Latvia and Lithuania, from pogroms and obscene persecution, both latter countries which were Russian in those days. My Father and Grandparents came from Latvia for instance to Ireland, and I am an Ashke**** ***..

The Sephardi ***s, on the other hand are the ***s who were hunted from Spain and Portugal in the 14th and 15th centuries. Also the Marranos (pretend converts to Christianity, forced by the Church, to be allowed to stay in Spain in 1492) Many Marranos went to the Low Countries (Flanders, Holland and Belgium) when they revolted against Spain, and threw off their pseudo-Christianity and reverted to *******. The philosopher Baruch Spinoza was one.

"Sepharad" is the Hebrew name for Spain, hence "Sephardim" (the "im" is the plural).

It may interest some to know that hidden communities of Marranos (a slang derogatory Spanish word for "converted ***s) are stil being found all over the one time Spanish conquered and settled areas, like Sth. America, The Balearic Islands, Madiera, Majorca, etc, generally in the mountains and idolated areas. They are slowly being brought back to OPEN *******, although still afraid, a relic of hundreds of years of fear and persecution. (resulting in torture and burning deaths) There are still MILIONS of them around, who keep certain ***ish customs secretly, for hundreds of years but today don't know why, except that "we've always done it, handed down from our parents and grandparents, etc.

And it may also interest some to know that the infamous Spanish Inquisition was formed to discover "***ish backsliders", it's main job. And the Inquisition, although destroyed in the early 19th Century by Napoleon, existed in former Spanish and Portugese colonies in Sth America until even later in the 19th cent.

I find it fascinating, and heartening, but tragic in the extreme. There were even ***ish families whose children were Catholic Popes in Rome.

Didn't mean to go on like this but the subject "got to me".

Oh, sorry about the main question, Merchant (Although probably his real name, or an English translation of one of his forebear's occupation) can be referred to as Ashke****. I'd be surprised if he had Sephardi roots, since after leaving Spain in 1492 they settled all along the Nth African Mediterranean coast, and in Italy, Malta, Turkey etc, and are generally darker of skin colour.

Sorry, Merchant IS ***ish, I have heard and seen him mention being "a ***ish kid brought up in....")

And to me, also a ***, it's obvious anyway, written all over him- another *** can tell.

I can TELL you, quickly this time, that being an Ashke****(Eastern Europe) *** would CERTAINLY not endear Eastern Europeans to him, from some sort of "fellowship" Quite the opposite.

If he likes Eastern Europen fighters, it's because he feels they are good and deserve to get what they can. Merchant is a true sportsman.

An interesting(maybe) vignette re Merchant, is that in the TV chat just before the klitschko-Sanders fight, Merchant was talking about how good WK was, how perfect in every punch etc. He ended with ....

He's SO PERFECT, I just wonder WHAT'S WRONG with him. There's prescience if you like.

He meant that NO ONE's THAT perfect, there HAS to be something wrong...... and on occasion other commentators have referred to this quote.

I know this, thats why I was kinda puzzled by this. Not just Ashke**** ***s, but ***s in general are not very fond of East Europeans today, since in some East European countries like Russia and Poland the ***s are not popular either. Its all got to do with history, the pogroms and the ww2. But thankfully Larry doesn't let this get in the way of what he feels for the Klitschkos. Or any other good East European boxer.

He was very harsh on Lewis after that fight imo, almost disrespectfully so.

Why are Ashke**** ***s hated so much by East Europeans?

One thing is that it is a real fact, that ***s don't harbour feelings of revenge. I don't know why, we have ample cause. I think it's because they want to get along with everybody and always try to right perceived injustices even perpetrated on non-***s.

Of course I'm speaking generally, and there are occasional "rotten apples" who DO bear grudges.. like myself, who grew up in a violently antisemitic Ireland, having to actually fight my way home every day from school, through rings of students from the local Christian Brothers school, (where George Bernard Shaw went to school), being segregated with my fellow ***ish kids in school classrooms, referred to scathingly by teachers who set the wrong example, being "talked to" by Catholic priests about the errors of our ways, and how the ***s "killed God", and were "children of the Devil. etc.etc.

Having to form our own social and sporting clubs because we would be blackballed in Christian clubs......{Yet, in Israel, where there are now more Irish ***s than are in Ireland today, NOBODY is more Irish than they. They hold Irish celebrations all the time. But, mind you, they stay in Israel................

                    And there's ....MORE......
