    Most deceiving title defense streaks

    Ivan Calderon-
11 title defenses, only fought 3 top ten ranked minimumweights(Leyva, Reyes, Bustos). Never unified

    Joe Calzaghe-
21 title defenses, only fought 7 10 top ten ranked super middleweights(Reid, Woodhall, Brewer, Mitchell, Lacy, Kessler, Manfredo Jr). Did unify.
    edit: added Manfredo, missed him.
    Zsolt Erdie-
11 title defenses, only fought 2 10 top ten ranked light heavyweights(Garayx2), never unified

    Chris John-
13 title defenses, only fought 4 top ten ranked featherweights(JMM, Enoki, Juarezx2), never unified

    Andre Berto-
5 title defenses, only fought 1 top ten welterweight(Collazo), never unified

    Juan Carlos Gomez-
10 title defenses, only fought 1 top Cruiserweight(Dominguez), never unified

    Darius Michalczewski-
23 title defenses, only fought 4 top ten light heavyweights(Rocchigianix2, Griffin, Hill)

This has to take the cake.
    Artur Grigorian-
17 title defenses, 0 title defenses against top ten lightweights.(nobody). never unified.

Title defenses mean very little in this day and age.

grigorian did fight steffano zoff who used to be in the top 10. he also fought raul balbi who was in the top ten a couple years after his fight with grigorian and antonio pitalau who was in the top ten about 8 years after his fight with grigorian. does that count? he's still an all time great though.

Calzaghe didn't just beat 6 top 10 smw's he unified the entire division and became the undisputed champion. That's not exactly an easy thing to do even with the 10 million belts out there.

He waited until the very last second to do it. If he really wanted Roy & Hopkins attention he would have did it sooner. Not waited until an overrated American takes a belt and just expose him with his speed. He's a natural born cherry picker.

Ducked Glenn Johnson 3 times with his excuses being "injury of the vagina."

he actually fought 8 top 10 rated guys. manfredo was in the top 10 so that shows you just how crappy that division was. 8 out of 21 defenses. pathetic. i mean all time great.

calzaghe also never unified with the other long reigning champ in the division sven ottke. both guys racked up 21 title defenses in the same exact division at the same exact time. how is that possible!

          1999. 1. sven ottke 2. joe calzaghe
          2000. 1. sven ottke 2. joe calzaghe
          2001. 1. sven ottke 2. joe calzaghe
          2002. 1. joe calzaghe 2. sven ottke
          2003. 1. joe calzaghe 2. sven ottke

What about Khaosai Galaxy ?, 19 defenses at Flyweight and they was all against nobodies, his promoters kept him in Thailand in a stacked division at the time and didn't pit him against any of them.

I can't blame him or not going to Germany to fight Ottke, but what do Roy and Hop have to do with his run at all, they were in different weight classes.

Its also very easy to call Lacy overrated after the fact but many ppl thought he would beat Joe, just bump some old threads if you don't believe me.

                Currently Omar Narvaez.

All-time most deceiving though is this man, the great Dutch Boy Gym:
