Sorry, but I completely disagree. After watching his performance against Maciel, I am absolutely positive that a Pirog vs Manfredo matchup would be a much more competitive fight than Martinez vs Pirog. Just mho.

team martinez and his fanboys with several contradictory/hypocritical statements...

- they say martinez deserves a tune-up/easy-fight and they say that pirog would get whupped by martinez, and yet they won't/don't want martinez to fight pirog.

- they say martinez doesn't fight no-hopers and they say that pac fights no-hopers, and yet they want martinez to fight cotto (a no-hoper who pac already beat).

Your post is not really directed at me, but I will take the opportunity to address it anyways.....

I have made my viewpoint quite clear on that subject..... you have chosen to condense two completely seperate issues, which is silly.

1.) " martinez deserves a tune-up/easy-fight "..... I would like to see him learning German and exposing some of the dead-wood, but if he wants to take a money fight then I got no problem at all with that, considering his current position and recent resume'.

2.) " pirog would get whupped by martinez "..... correct, Pirog is clearly not ready for Maravilla.

So your summary..... " yet they won't/don't want martinez to fight pirog "..... is 100% correct, 2+2=4 when the equation does not contain an overwhelming desire to see Martinez get whipped for recently directing some rather disparaging comments toward Pacquiao.

Secondly.....

Martinez had fought a hellacious schedule and needs an easy fight so he doesn't burn out. After that he can go after some big money fights.

Pirog on the other hand has had a cupcake schedule. He needs to fight and beat some name opponents so that he brings more $$$ to the table.

you obviously have no clue how boxing works lou. martinez is the shot caller not pirog. martinez has his pick of any opponent in the middleweight division to fight and he chooses to fight a junior middleweight and manfredo. the only top 10 person available for martinez to fight is pirog but 2 fights in a row he's gone out of his way to make it clear he won't fight him.
