After reading that,I like Pirog more,I'll pay more attention to his fights. He seems really down to earth with good manners & seems to know that he has to improve in areas.I wish him luck & even hope he gets his shot at Martinez while Martinez is hot.

Me too, Pirog sounds like a great guy.
But, he is obviously not ready for Martinez just yet.Comment

sounds like martinez isn't ready for pirog. why is he fighting junior middleweights and guys like manfredo? pirog is a top middleweight but yeah he's not ready. manfredo who sucks is ready?Comment

Pavlik was Undisputed Middleweight Champion so you have no argument there.Martinez already ducked Pirog once and he then ducked Zbik. Both were his mandatories. Martinez ducked and dodged both of them.
He knows he would get KO'd by Pirog and he won't go to 168 cause both Bute and Froch would box circles around him. Don't forget that Martinez got a draw against Cintron, is 1-1 against Pwill, fought a weight drained alcoholic Pavlic and beat a 154 who never fought at 160 before.Comment

Post me a link showing Pirog looking " ready " for Martinez ?
I certainly haven't seen it.
Pirog should have put the tough but inexperienced and limited Maciel away, what would Sergio have done to that kid?
If I saw Pirog fight somebody who was even on Manfredo's level , then I may have a better idea, and that is saying something seeing that you think Pirog is ready for Martinez now.
Pirog looks good, but everybody is too quick to push this kid into a shootout with the likes of Maravilla..... that would equate to pushing him under a bus as far as I can see.
If Pirog thinks that he is ready, then he should fight Zbik or Williams, or at least 1 fighter in the top 20 before looking at Sergio..... and Manfredo is just a stay-busy fight for Martinez.
They are still at least one level apart imho, Maravilla smokes him, and I'd still like to see Pirog matched against some of the other guys before his career is abruptly finished.Comment

so manfredo who is a recycled fringe contender with no potential is a better opponent than a top middleweight with lots of potential? martinez should be fighting top middleweights but for some reason you don't agree. if pirog isn't ready why doesn't martinez "stay busy" against him? he's stringing people along with easy fights and he even gets some of these people to defend him. wow that is impressive after all.Post me a link showing Pirog looking " ready " for Martinez ?

No, of course not.
Manfredo is just a stay-busy / money fight.
Peter Manfredo is not the issue here, Dimitry Pirog is.
Manfredo has fought at least 3 world champions, including a probable ATG, and is ready for a fight with Martinez..... Pirog has not even fought anyone in the top 20, and is clearly not ready for Martinez.
If I was Pirog's management, I would be looking at Zbik > someone > Martinez, when Sergio is a year closer to retirement.
Even someone like Paul Williams would be a horrible fight for Pirog, and would most likely beat him by easy UD, which is why I included "someone" instead of Williams, in the plan above.
Why toss Pirog under a bus now, before his career has even kicked off ?
No, I agree with you 100%.
He has been fighting top middleweights, and, he has been beating them
I just have no problem at all with Sergio taking a stay-busy fight, after considering his current status and recent schedule.
It's not like he has been feeding on faded no-hoper's for the last 2-3 years like..... you-know-who
I can see your point, after the recent comments by Team Pirog, maybe Sergio should just clean the kid up and take his lunch.
Come on man..... Martinez fights Cintron > Williams > Pavlik > Williams > Dzinziruk..... Pirog fights a green kid in Jacobs > then, some other green kid..... and yet you think that Martinez is taking "easy fights"?
I think that I like Pirog more than you dislike Martinez

Make the fight happen already, I'm eager to see who is next up for the scared haters to propose as the guy Martinez is ducking so that way my boy can put him away too. It's so funny reading comments about Martinez "picking on smaller guys".....you should probably look up the actual stats about his opponents.....at any weight Martinez has fought, he has been the smaller guy 95% of the time...his entire career. Haters don't need facts as they operate on fear alone.Comment

When I made the comment above, I did not infer that I think Manfredo is "ready for a fight with Martinez" in the sense that he will win the fight, or even be competitive..... just that he is experienced enough to know what he is getting himself into.
He clearly does not have the potential that Pirog has, and a beatdown (payday) from Martinez, will not stonewall his "career".
It is a money fight for Manfredo, and for Sergio, and nothing more.
But Pirog is not ready for a shot at Martinez, and is too good to be selling out for a payday this early, like Manfredo is.Comment
