after reading some of the comments from people on here i now realize how easy it is to be a boxing promoter. most fans don't even care who you fight. once you get to the top it's cherry pick heaven. he deserves an easy fight give me a break. this is supposed to be world championship boxing. why would a world championship level fight ever be easy? in other sports do they let the best team play a crappy team for the championship? also if martinez deserves an easy fight then wouldn't pirog who's "not ready" constitute an easy fight? yeah don't think too hard trying to explain that one.
if martinez wants to beat up manfredo off television then go for it but no one should go to that fight except manfredo's family so they can throw in the towel. tv networks have ruined boxing. everyone is too scared to fight the best because they are in fear of losing those great paychecks they provide. dzinziruk wouldn't even take the martinez fight unless hbo guaranteed him another fight. and they did! what the hell is this shi-t!Last edited by daggum; 04-01-2011, 10:12 PM.Comment

It is what it is, even truly great fighters had their share of Manfredo's.
True, but from a management or even a fan's perspective, it is silly to throw him in the deep-end when he is clearly not ready.

Well, Pirog vs any of those guys would likely be a better fight than Pirog vs Martinez, and fighting top 10 guys would enable him to develop further and clarify his position at 160 before heading into a war with someone of Martinez' ilk.
Why the hell isn't anybody screaming for Sturm to step up and fight Sergio ?
He is way more qualified, and way more overdue, for a fight of that nature, than Pirog is.
But hey, ya got me, I am not Pirog's dad, nor his mom for that matter..... so, feed the kid to Martinez then, I am buying sexy's next fight anyways, and I don't really care who he KTFO.
It just would be nice to see Pirog develop by testing himself against some of the lesser guys before Sergio beats him up and takes his lunch money.
Like Manny? Floyd? Berto? Chavez? Canelo?

- they say martinez deserves a tune-up/easy-fight and they say that pirog would get whupped by martinez, and yet they won't/don't want martinez to fight pirog.
- they say martinez doesn't fight no-hopers and they say that pac fights no-hopers, and yet they want martinez to fight cotto (a no-hoper who pac already beat).Comment

Martinez had fought a hellacious schedule and needs an easy fight so he doesn't burn out. After that he can go after some big money fights.
Pirog on the other hand has had a cupcake schedule. He needs to fight and beat some name opponents so that he brings more $$$ to the table.Comment
