Without them, Joe would have simply closed out his career and retired with the increased general respect of most boxing fans on this forum (which has come to him in retirement) and a HOF spot guaranteed and disputed by only the harshest of pundits.

But, oh no, we couldn't have a pleasant ending like that. Because they had to come here to the actual boxing forum where people talk about actual boxing, tipsy on BBC Sports Personality Of The Year hoopla, to declare Joe a Knight Of The Fistic Realm, proclaim his All-Time-Greatness as very arguably one of the best boxers ever to box in boxing and chug warm mugs of his seminal fluid.

FRKO. KrisSilver. abadger. _Ricky_. Skilled deepthroaters one and all. And there were many more. How I curse the names of those who brought us to this.

I agree with most but not that he'd have retired with tons of respect. People are simply beginning to see through the farce.

    • Speaking of Bute, has there ever been a more bloatedly smug, dumb-mugging faux-champ in recent memory?

His showboating and bathing in the adulation of his crowds after crushing overmatched smaller guys like Jesse Brinkley is literally sickening.

I hope Carl Froch has enough left after the Super Six to beat the dog**** out of that loathsome show-pony.

Dude......yes. I can't stand the ****er either (though I do rate him as a fighter). The nerve of people to say he is the top man a SMW, despite not even being part of the Super Six, not to mention the way they jobbed Andrade the first time around.

I see that most people are getting things more in a perspective, TBH. I keep an eye on this forum and respect for Calzaghe among regulars who were once much more skeptical has gone up. That is, they acknowledge him as a genuinely very good fighter now, which was widely questioned before. The decent tests he faced late in his career, along with his retirement giving time for reflection, has steadily changed the perception of him to a generally respectful one.

I didn't say "tons" of respect, the kind reserved for true Greats. What I'm talking about is an increase in general respect in quarters where it had previously lacked.

Joe will make the HOF and few reasonable observers would begrudge it. If it weren't for the idiots who came here claiming he was an ATG and an achiever equal to Jones Jr. or Hopkins and this and that, we wouldn't have seen near as many threads like this one on the forum over the last 3 years plus. By your own admission, so many of your threads were a reaction to the inflated claims of his fairweather groupies.

I dont mind him in the HOF. The standards of the HOF for boxing are not as strict as for NFL, NBA or baseball for example. I'd imagine the standards for other sports worldwide are stricter also. So Yeah, i don't mind him being in the hOF or considered a very good fighter.

I think it's the fact that he actually has some top-flight ability that makes his current fraudulence all the more grotesque.

Andrade showed us something about Bute, though, even while being a clearly inferior talent. If an anywhere near his best version of Froch gets his hands on Bute, he's ****ing him out.

                • Like, Ottke, for instance. I can't really hate a guy with such a mediocre level of athletic talent. He needed to pad his record with junk and hide behind homecooking.

Bute's a damn good athlete. He can do things in there. It's only because his heart is made of ****in' tissue-paper that he needs to sit in French Canada beating up Jesse Brinkleys and parading around like a big tart to a partisan crowd like he just did something delightful and splendid.

                  ****ing c*nt.
